Default Jdm gc8 Ej20 Vs Usdm Gd8 Ej20

I was just wondering what the major mechanical differences were between the older gc8 wrx motors available in the japan and the current one. Im looking at either buying a new motor or buying an old clip and I think Id rather buy an old clip, but I want to know if i can use the new ej20's water pump, spark plug wires, valve seals, alternator and starter.. etc, basically, if my 4 year old sti motor breaks something like that, can i run to napa and pick up one from a new wrx? More over internally can I use forged pistons and rods and what not from a new Wrx or do i need to find stuff specific to the gc8's motors? I have been building cars for a long time but im new to subies, Ive wanted one for a long time, so now ill be needing some help. If anyone knows a better place to ask than here please let me know.

Default go jdm

yeah, the answer for your question is yes. almost all the parts are avail. here in the states as somthing or other USDM. lota parts from EJ22t legacy will be the same, clutch/flywheel is = USDM wrx, pistons same, rods same, crankshaft can be found on a USDM subaru of sorts, etc. JDM is the way to go. waterpump/oilpump = same. yeah, mechanical stuf is pretty much identical. fyi, the EJ18 engines had the same crank/rods as the JDM STI-RA motors.......

Cool 2002 WRX Engine Option's?

I have a 2002 WRX Wagon with no compression in one of the cylinders and am going to either rebuild the motor or replace it. What motors and years are compatible with my car, not alot of money to spend.

Not trying to steal this thread, but I didn't want to start more threads on the same topic... I have a EJ20H motor and was wondering the same thing... what parts for USDM cars will be the same for this motor?

Ex: I need an alternator right now, will it be the same as the USDM 2002 WRX?
