Default Parking Lights won't turn off!!!

The parking lights on my 2002 WRX won't turn off. I have tried everything. Turned lights on and off, no effect. Does anyone know why it is doing this?

OMFG! RTFM!

If I had a nickel for every time I had to tell someone to check the switch on the top of their steering column... I'd put that 300 bucks worth of nickels into a pillowcase and whup their asses with it.

It's right there in your owners manual. Bet ya feel like a grade A jackass now don't you? I did to when it happend to me Luckily, I didn't post on i-club or ask my dealer why my car is broken. Hooked on phonics is a miracle!

You know. . I bet half the questions posted about problems with people's cars could be answered if they just took the time to read the manual. Lots of useful information there.

I didnt realize subaru still had the parking light switch above the stearing column.

Has anyone ever used this feature? I always just leave my lights in the on position even when the car is off.

This happened to myself also..... Over 3 years ago, the first time I was cleaning my RS (interior) for the first time, I accidently put them on.....

I was "what is wrong with the car!" till I found that switch....

We've all been there!

By law the parking lights must be able to be used without a key. Since the standard headlight switch is disabled when the car is off (a feature I've enjoyed with both my Subies), the steering wheel switch remains.

It has happened to me and yes I felt like a jackass, although not a grade A jackass. But at least I wasn't a geek and read through the manual.
