Default Scratches on ISM 2012 WRX

Hey guys,

I have a few scratches on my front/rear bumper (no idea how, ugh) but I bought some "exact match paint" for the color I have (ice silver metallic) and after putting it on, and following instructions, it clearly doesnt match. They are not huge scratches, and they're on the low end (getting a front lip soon to almost entirely cover them up, I hope) but with the mismatched paint it looks ugly.

My question is: does anyone know where one would get exact match paint that actually matches the stock subaru colors? Specifically the ice silver metallic for a WRX

Thank you in advance!

Did you try touch up paint from the dealership?

Of course, my buddy has bottles of touch up paint for all his vehicles. They aren't that much, it's about an ounce of paint.

Not sure why I didn't think of that. Typical me, making everything so difficult! I'll call the dealer by me today and check. Thanks a million.

Touch up paint for ISM isn't an exact match either, not even from subaru (experience).

So if the dealership doesn't offer an exact match, what's our best bet? I have a few rockchips I'd like to touch up.

My guess is there is no option if the dealership doesn't even have a damn match. Unless you go to a paint and body shop or something and spend probably $100s

My bottle might have been from a messed up batch. Try it for yourself.

Could be. I'll still be trying it to see how it works. Like I said above, It's already got touch up paint on there that doesn't match so if the new stuff doesn't match either I'm no worse off.

Will not be testing until it warms up a little bit here in MI, but will try to remember to report back on how it worked.

Sorry in advance if this is mis-information as i'm not a painter by trade. It seems like i read touch up paints will not match the finish exactly due to the lack of clear coat, even if the paint color is the same.

I've actually wet sand & cleared the touch up paint spots on my ISM hatch, but it's still a mismatch to me. I may be doing it wrong, as I'm not a painter by anything lol
