I agree with the airbag. But how long you think it would last on the wheel? Seems like it would just look like crap really quick. But I guess you could always just take it off.. haha

I've seen many older BMW M's with Alcantara steering wheels, and considering their age the wheels are still holding up okay. That's why I'm trying to make a template for the wheel though, so I can simply cut out a new one and restitch whenever it goes bad.

As long as you're using real alcantara or some high quality suede then it'll hold up fine.

Working on a really nifty OEM looking gauge mounting solution.
Will update with pics once I get a little further into the process. ~Evil |

Anyone have any pictures of gauges mounted under a single din radio in the open spot? Thinking about making one sometime soon, and I didn't know if anyone had made one yet?

DIY Backseat Quick Release
I'm working on a full time backseat down flat/wagon tub setup. I'll put the tub DIY up in a couple days when it's done, but I made the quick release pins for getting a truly 'flat' cargo area today, looks rough, but you don't see it in the car:
Here's the link to the DIY: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2431817 |

I was thinking of doing it with carbon fiber wrap. What kind of glue did you use to stick it? & has it lasted thru the heat? |

I somehow don't think vinyl wrap of any kind will look good, primarily because of the cushion effect on the visor. It won't affect the Suede because it's a soft material that flexes, but Vinyl is a hardened plastic base. Kinda like putting tape on a pillow. It will stick, but I'm not sure how long it will last. |

Its not a printed sheet like the stuff from autozone or 3M dinoc stuff. The wrap is actual fabric woven to look like carbon fiber, and you can feel the texture on the weaves. That's why I was considering doing either my headliner or headliner + sunvisors with it. Or maybe switch it up and do the headliner with alcantara & have the visors in cf wrap? I'm just concerned about how hard it might be to take everything out without damaging it as I've never pulled my headliner, or any headliner, out before. The question about the glue type also. Not sure what will stand up to the heat, as my friend who works for subie specialties tried redoing her headliner, and within a week it was drooping down from the glue warming up and just becoming goo again. |

Use DAP Weldwood HHR contact adhesive, it's high heat resistant, more so than the sprays.

Thank you alll for the input.
I think I'm gonna buy some wrx door cards and test out the cf wrap and super77 adhesive to see how that holds up before I attempt to do my headliner. With that said, anyone wanna sell me some 04 wrx door cards? :P Lol |
