Default Global Rallycross 2012 Final: SEMA

Watch the video!

The final round of the Global Rally Championship was held in Las Vegas during the SEMA Show on Tuesday, October 30. Where most of the 2012 GRC events were held at super speedways, with metal ramps, this installment had the course back to a mostly dirt format with a massive 70-foot gap jump.

The event was a challenging one for the Subaru Rally Team USA with all the cars battling not just the other teams but mechanical issues during the course of the race. On the first day, Dave Mirra's STI was damaged in competition causing a drive shaft to sever a steering line - resulting in a massive fireball and putting the car out of commission for the duration of the round. Both Sverre Isachsen and Bucky Lasek had engine troubles.

In the event Final, Ken Block's Ford Fiesta caught fire while tussling with fellow Ford driver Tanner Foust for the lead (note: both were former Subaru drivers in the Rally America series). A quick re-start cemented Foust's dominance, handing him both the win (followed by Deegan [Ford] and Millen [Hyundai]) and the overall series championship.

Subaru final positions: Dave Mirra #6, Bucky Lasek #7, Pat Moro #13

Privateer Jimmy Keeny (Subaru) was injured when his car crashed during jump practice. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Meh. Since rally (and all 4 wheel racing for that matter) has moved away from production homologation racing has become yawn.

If subaru wants to be competitive they need to make a lighter car... Its as simple as that. they would be much better off racing the old gc chasis...

Still waiting to see if Global RallyCross (GRC) will be coming to Texas Motor Speedway (TMS) in 2013 ... no one knows as yet, not even the event staff at TMS.

Default Global Rallycross Highlights 2013 Las Vegas

Anybody go to the Global Rallycross finale in Las Vegas? It was my first event and got to meet, Sverre Isachsen, Bucky Lasek, and even David Higgins was there...He just when the Rally America Championship. He was awesome. Bummer Subaru got fairly hammered, Sverre got T-Boned, in the races but I got it all on CAMERA! Take a look.
