98 Legacy GT Alarm Question
Hey guys,
I had to replace my battery and found out that I really did have keyless entry, now my hazards flash really slow intermittently even when the car is off and I cannot get it to stop. Anyone have the programming instructions for resetting the alarm to be disabled or off? I have looked through my manual but I do not have any instructions on resetting after battery disconnect. Background: I have a 98 2.5GT. When I bought it earlier this year I was given the build sheet that said it had keyless entry and alarm. The problem was that the place I was buying it from didn't have any of the fobs. So I thought no problem i'll just get some fobs. I went to the dealership here in town and thought that they could provide me with a new programed key fob. Well they tell me that they can't find the keyless entry module, and question if the car really even has keyless entry b/c they don't think so. I had only had it a couple of days, didn't know much about it. I thought maybe someone removed it or it was an error on the build sheet. Well, today swapped the battery and this happened so I actually had to do something other than change the oil or coolant and got inside the car when this problem came up and low and behold the module was visible to the naked eye from the floor of my car without having to remove any panels at all!!! IT EVEN SAYS SUBARU KEYLESS ENTRY MODULE ON THE SIDE!! I had actually been selling the fob (which the dealership wouldn't return) on this site. It is not progammed for my car and I really at all costs do not want to go to the dealership up here, but I want to be able to drive my car without having to disconnect the battery every time I get out. I will eventually take it somewhere else to get it programmed. The only good from this whole incident. Gratuitous banana man: Thanks in advance.

Thanks,
It worked like a charm, though it did take me a bit to find the button, mine is kind of hidden up by a peice of exposed frame. |

so whats the diff in valet mode and reg mode? i think reg mode is way to obvious, i like the really fast lock-chirp in valet and the unlock isn't too bad. the reg is fairly obnoxious i think.
