toggling back and fourth between full volume and silent/vibe is a regular thing for many and it's easy to do by tapping the ringer "bell" icon in the volume indicator popup.

so yeah, being able to select between, vibrator when I want to pleasure myself when someone texts, or ringer when I want to show off my appreciation for journey when someone calls (yes, I'm the ******* that still uses a song as my ringtone, and yes, it's separate ways). anyway, yeah, it's either vibrate, or 43% volume, never 100%. |

Just got an email that my replacement Pixel 2 XL was delivered.
Can't wait to get off this iPhone. Tired of the Spam calls not being automatically blocked, the sucky news feed and widgets, Siri, crappy notification system, slow fingerprint reader, and less flexibility when sending stuff to/from the phone. Only things I liked about it were how it goes to the exact email when clicking the notification (rather than just opening the email app), and I kind of like the physical switch to turn it to vibrate. |

I think if you pull down on the email notification a second time in the notification pane it lets you choose a specific message.

After upgrading to Pie, my fingerprint reader has several mis-reads on the screen unlock. It's reattempts are in such rapid succession that the security lockout activates almost instantly.
Anyone else experiencing this? I tried cleaning FP reader, resetting my finger prints already. The only way it can work decent is if I carefully place my finger on the reader and leave it for a "clean read" Pixel 2 XL |

there are apps on IOS to deal with that (Hiya, Mr. Number for example) On Sprint, I could select the phone number of the caller and indicate to send to voicemail automatically. This is disabled on Verizon. I had to go around it by creating a contact and then selecting send to voicemail. I have contacts with 10+ numbers, all going straight to VM. Using a Pixel might be better regarding this, though you never know. Google likes to add and then remove features for no reason. |

Wet fingers have never worked well on my Pixel 2 XL. I've had no problems so far with Pie, and that's with both my original and the warranty replacement I just got yesterday.

This just started about 30 minutes ago. Disabling wifi via the toolbar also fully disables the mobile network.

According to an anonymous source, Google has come up with three possible reasons to explain why the Pixel 2 XL slows down. One of the three is worthy of a free replacement from Google. Unfortunately, the three reasons have not been made public. Long time Android users know that the platform does start slowing down after a period of time, but not to the extent where a seasoned Google engineer would be surprised by the extent of the lag.
Hopefully, Google does reveal more about this situation and lets Pixel 2 XL users know what to do if their phones start running in molasses. After all, yours truly just purchased a new Pixel 2 XL and it is used as my daily driver. It's only been a couple of weeks though, and so far there are no complaints. If your Pixel 2 XL feels like it is running backwards, call Google support immediately. |

I have never once needed to send a phone in for warranty/repair but it sounds like a constant feature of the last Nexus and now the Pixel phones. I don't want to hear how great they are about honoring warranties. I want a phone that won't have a hardware failure in the first place. For flagship prices, they need to button down their hardware to compete with Samsung and Apple. The software is pretty sweet and smooth (albeit barebones) but hopefully this HTC phone division integration provides a comprehensive device because fast updates and the best camera aren't enough to justify its price to the competition for me at the moment.
I really hope they knock the Pixel 3 out of the park so I can pick one up in the US in November. If not, it's looking like the S9 for me, which I never would have thought I'd say. |

I broke down and just bought an Essential phone since Amazon has them for $224 right now. My 6P is really starting to run out of battery quickly and there's nothing in that price range I've found that has more than a 1080P screen. I was hoping to hold out for the One Plus 6T that is supposedly going to be sold by T-Mobile in Oct. but the Essential for over $300 less seems worth trying at least.

I'm hearing, 6.7" (dats huge) for 3XL and 5.3" for the regular 3. 4GB RAM, where as other companies (even smaller Chinese companies) are putting 6GB or more of RAM...and that notch (3XL) looks pretty hefty to me. |

Assuming the Pixel 3 has no headphone jack, no wireless charging, no removable storage, a worse screen, bigger bezels, no facial recognition or iris scanner, it's a tough sell to ignore absolutely everything else just for the top camera and quick updates. That's not to mention the countless features and customizations of Samsung's software to stock Android. I'm a tinkerer so maybe if they offered a Nexus-like dev community, it would be a benefit, but they're both pretty marginal. Either way, I'll wait until the P3 is out and I can do a fair comparison but based on leaks thus far, the S9 looks like a stronger phone. |

heads up if you own a OnePlus device and use Waze: do NOT update your Waze app!! latest update broke the GPS on Waze and now it Waze can't be used. Rolling back does not help so we are at the mercy of Google.

Any thoughts on the LG G7 ThinQ? As much as I like my Mate 10 Pro, I really hate living without the headphone jack. Don't want to go back to the Pixel XL, that single down firing speaker sucks ass, so that also rules out the V35 ThinQ.
I want the best camera I can get, a headphone jack, dual speakers, no notch or the ability to make it look like there is no notch, and would prefer a fingerprint sensor on the back, and I want it unlocked. Narrows it down quite a bit but wanted to see if there is any I'm missing. I'm hopefully getting the screen and battery fixed on an old Nexus 6P, might use that for a while if it turns out ok. I still miss that phone. |

If the essential phone hits the ~$200 mark again I think I'm going to have to buy one.
