Link help
I installed my Link today, and after figuring out why the ECU didn't have power, I got the car running.
But I can't get the car to idle. It runs great other than having to keep my foot on the gas to keep it running. Any thoughts? I've used both the map that came with the ECU, as well as the map that came from AMR.

when I got mine the guys at the factory forgot to put the daughter board in for the idle air controll. Andrew from AMR had to have them send me one. I'll post a pic of it when I get home so you can see what it looks like.

Cool...thanks. Andrew had mentioned something about the idle board not being installed, and I had to wait an extra two weeks for him to get it. But I would appreciate the picture of the board, just to see if he sent me one that still was missing the board.

hmmm...I guess that I'm back at square one now...I do have that piece installed...
It's kinda hard at the angle the picture was taken, but is the switch on the board in the "ON" or "1" position? Mine is currently in the 1 position. I don't know if that makes any difference or not though. |

Just a thought....
would having a light flywheel affect the idle like this?
I have a 12 pound flywheel, and sometimes the idle did weird things with the stock ECU. |

It is in the 1 pos.
You should be able to tune for the fly wheel. I would be more concerned w/ the wireing of the ISC stepper motor. I know that Andrew made a change or two from the fist wire diagram that he had. I would make sure that you have the latest one and then double check the wireing. After that I am pretty much at a loss. I'm no pro at the Link yet. I've only been running mine full time for a couple weeks. |

Update:
I spent some time on the phone with Andrew today, and he walked me through a few steps and we got the car to idle. It turns out the idle control selenoid was stuck shut, so it wasn't letting the car idle. Now a new problem is that the Link can close the selenoid to decrease the idle, but cannot open it back up to raise the idle...still trying to work this one out. |

Interesting. So your idle right now is at what RPM? How did you go about opening the solenoid so your idle works?
Impreza Rider, how long/difficult was the install on the Link 2 (is this the same as the Link Plus?)? I am seriously thinking of buying one, but want to make sure I know what I'm getting into. Graham |

The car idles at 900rpm. I went about opening the selenoid by removing it from the car, and pushing in the "plunger" thing all the way.
I suppose the Link2 and LinkPlus are the same. the install is not hard, but it is tedious as you have to wire each wire separately. It took about 4 hours to do mine, that included soldering all the wires, rerouting some vacuum lines, and figureing out where to mount the ECU and seriallink so I can talk to the computer. |

Impreza Rider,
Let me know if you have solved the problem yet. Check all the wiresbetween the LINK2 and the Idle control solenoid to make sure they have good contact. If there is a problem with your unit, we will warranty it right away. I will need you to send the unit back to me to test. Andrew AMR |

Hopefully I can let you know later today.
A freind is going to come over and we're going to swap some stuff out to try to determine the problem. I'll be in touch |

you don't need a link ecu to use the lambda link and the knock link do you?
Brad had only 2 questions today |

No You do not need a Link ECU when using a LambdaLINK or KnockLINK. I have both in stock.

So you don't use a laptop to tune the ECU, it has its own tuning module? Is this included in the price of the unit?
Install was only 4 hours, thats not bad at all. Are you running your Link as a piggy-back or stand-alone system? Do you have boost control with your system or is this an option? Graham |

You can get a tuning module...I chose to go with the laptop tuning. Right now I'm running as full standalone system.
There is a boost control available...it's like $200 I think and works with the Link. I'm not using that right now, but later I might get it so I can control boost with the laptop. |

The link does have a boost control output. You just have to hook up a boost control solenoid.

Though it looks like I read this too late, as you have already boxed up your unit. Did you try manually rasing your idle?

I pushed the selenoid back in by hand if that's what you mean. That's the only way I could get the car ti idle at all.
