Default Bilstein PSS9 and Camber plates.

I recently purchased a set of Bilstein PSS9's for my GC project car.
i am running a complete 05 STI drive train so i had to get a set of 05+ Coilovers.
when installing these i learned that i would need to use the front conical washer to locate the upper spring perch.

but in order to run rear plates some custom work was going to have to be done.

i first contacted Myles at Race comp to pick his brain on this issue.

after bouncing pm's and phone calls back and forth we came up with a few options.

1) use an off the shelf upper perch from another manufacturer in this case it was KW

2) Contact Bilstein and see if they offered another upper perch that would work with camber plates.

3) make some custom spacers to locate the current upper spring perch.

After talking to bilstein I came to learn that they do not offer a different rear spring perch and the one they do offer is designed to work with OEM style rear mounts.

so i fabricated these locating washers.
you WILL need something like this if you plan on running rear camber plates on your PSS9 system.

Thanks Myles for helping me out with this!

Without the camber plates what kind of alignment were you looking at for the rear?

it wasnt so much for camber but for tire clearance.
the suspension is in a GC chassis and they are very limited in tire width.

Yeah. I am wondering the same thing. I have pss9s myself that I want to make work with a rear camber plate. It looks as what you have done is the solution so far.

The guy from DMS said they will work without extra stuff like pieces from the top hat. I have a 2002 wrx.

The tops did come in and do not have the provision after all to fit these. Looks like some of the other brands that come with a centering thing would work.

The DMS rear have a centering washer for the bottom of the bearing just nothing to adapt it to the large cone that sits atop the rear spring on these coilovers.

correct, and that is why i had to machine this part so that the centering washer under the bearing on the camber plate would have something to push on to.
these coilovers have an abnormally large opening on the rear top hat and that is why this custom spacer needs to be made to use rear camber plates.

I just e-mailed Mark at DMS and he said he will take care of this for me and get me an adapter to make them work correctly.

Maybe he can provide these same pieces to people in the future.

Mine use that thread pitch.

I didn't think it was weird or anything. What would they normally have?
