Default 2013 BRZ Rattle under dashboard (left side)

I've got a 2013 BRZ (about 30K miles bought it new - not my daily driver).

About 4 months ago I started getting a rattle under the dashboard, just above and to the left of the steering column. Whatever it is, it isn't small. Sounds like something big. I only hear it on bumps and rough roads. (NOT a 'Ticking' it's a rattle).

I've looked under the dash a number of times, even used a 'bore scope' camera so I could really get up there. Still no idea what's causing it. I really don't want to pull the dash off (or take it to the dealer). I don't think it's steering or brake related. Would rather find out what is causing it before whatever it is falls off.

Thanks.

I would be looking at your left front suspension - noises can travel in a car chassis. There really isn't anything under the dash that would make the noise you seem to be describing except the pedal and steering supports and you would feel that. You can get a set of wired chassis ears for about $100 - that will help 100 times better chasing noises than a borescope.

It's not the suspension. I've been through the suspension twice now and everything there is fine.

The noise is definitely coming from inside the car. There's nothing under the hood that is loose and that vibrates. Best I can tell at this point is that it's -above- the steering column, under the dashboard, and in the area of the steering column.
It does seem to be getting worse, in that it rattles more often, so I guess whatever it is, it'll break or fall off eventually and I'll find out what it is at that point.

For that much work I'll live with the noise.

How many hours does it take? More than one means 'not worth it'. I'd take it to the deal but someone said the repair is a couple grand.
