Bill was close, the published weight difference is 14lbs from Premium to Limited.
Edit: FR-S is 28lbs lighter than Premium from what I just found. |

I weigh 165lbs so I figure that's light enough I could get a Limited.
The curb weights I've always seen published are the following: FR-S: 2758 BRZ Premium: 2762 BRZ Limited: 2776 I think the heaviest additions on the Limited are the foglights and the seat heaters. The rest of it is negligible including the spoiler, it hardly weighs anything. AVO weighed their BRZ RA when they got it and it was right around 2600 lbs without any weight reduction. Actually PTC seat heaters themselves are not heavy... With wiring and switches if you assume the seat itself is the same weight, you are probably only adding 1 lb, 1.5 lbs max for both seats and most of that is wiring.

I hope you meant 2700 otherwise I'm doing something very wrong. I weighed my Limited with 255 Star Specs, SSR Comps in 17x8, Perrin catback with resonator, Perrin pulley, and the spare/tools removed with 3/8 tank and came in at 2675lbs. Probably can get this down to 2625 pretty easy between less gas, lighter battery, lighter exhaust bits, but it will be harder for me to get under 2600lbs as expensive brakes and such are not in the budget anytime soon.

Well the RA has no AC, no radio, lighter glass, no spare or tools, 16" steel wheel with tiny tires, etc. My guess is 2600 is without much gas.

I'm in...
0 option FR-S. I guess as light a variant that's available right now. Let the modding begin! Coilovers on deck... 17x9" square set--proper offset? What's lightest legal exhaust system available? Header? Any intake better than another? I normally stick with stock bars. |

Honestly, read Scooby South's entire thread. It's long but will answer a lot of questions though you will probably have a few more:

I think I've settled on AST 4150s--trying to determine spring rate. Going to start there w/ rims/tires.
Airaid/Injen or K&N stock replacement? |

If you tune, you can do the Takada/Greddy which overall seem to perform better. Otherwise K&N/Perrin Drop-in.
Something around 350-500 front works, 350-400 rear seems to work too. |

Okay, first outing...
Completely stock except new 245/40s on 17x9" Drag Lead Specials (8+ lbs total/corner over stockers), 325 mi, and a driver that's never owned a momentum car (coming from 600whp GT-R & boosted SM Evo/STIs) lol. The clocks weren't working, so it was by stopwatch. Came in 2nd (to well-prepped/driven RX-8) & was credited w/ 36.2--I timed vid below & it was a 35.8--timing was ALL over the board, so I'm not putting any stock in results First impressions are favorable. I think the car will come alive w/ mods... Here's vid: |

The best way to prep for driving a car like a BRZ/FRS is to drive a heavy car like a STI ;-)

I feel like his old GTR counts. It's amazing how its tough to hop from WRX to BRZ. Usually I can do that between cars with little challenge but it takes several runs to get used to the BRZ in my case.

oh of course a GRT falls into that category. I love going to a well balanced f/r car after manhandling my sti, it feels effortless to drive. The BRZ gets better n better every time I drive one.

With the BRZ, I instantly felt smoother and more relaxed. I sometimes want to open my door, stick my leg out, and try to help the car along by kicking the ground like you would on a skateboard, but other than that, I can't complain at all. I guess you've probably been competing at higher levels than me with your WRX, so that's probably a factor. I still have my WRX (it's been down for a few months) and am looking forward to trying it again after driving my BRZ all summer. I'm sure it will take me some getting used to, but hopefully it won't be too bad. |

In my case I'm doing it at the same event.

Oh, I gotcha. I thought you meant going from the WRX in one event to the BRZ in the next event. I wasn't thinking about you doing it at the same event. I hope to do that soon, when my WRX is running again. Really curious to see the differences on the same course and how well I can switch between the two.

So... Not trying to get off-topic, but--do any of you have possible long-term turbo/SM aspirations w/ the car?
Some of these turbo kits are well-done & I think the car could be a serious SM contender, if prepped properly. I just can't stay away from HP--my opium! lol |

Yes I really do want a whipple charger on this at some point but I don't think it will be setup for SCCA anymore at that point but who knows. I'm about to take a dip into the tune and E85 pool and see what that does.

I posted a few comments in the SM thread. I would maybe look at SM a couple years down the line. The original Accelerated Performance 300 kit with the GT28RS had a very flat torque curve with very little lag and on E85 could probably make 375WHP. Minimum weight would be 2480 without any tire restrictions although I think running 275/35/17 would be a good size so you could be less weight with the -200lb allowance for 275s. I'm interested to see how the different supercharger kits look as well but I'm not sure they will make the kind of power you would need for the weight of the BRZ to be competitive in SM. I have no doubt the car could be competitive in SM. It's very similar in size to the current 240s who run without being a 20 year old car and having a more modern engine. |

SM was won by a 2600# 300whp e36 M3--so I think the Twins would be very competitive in the ~370-400whp/2500# range, IMO. VERY competitive...

Yeah I think I mentioned in the SM thread I don't know if there is a better SM car right now, on paper at least.
This is the BRZ-300 Accelerated kit (GT28RS) on 93 octane pump gas. So I think on E85 you could probably get around 350WHP pretty easily with a lot more low/mid-range torque, not sure about spinning the motor to 8200 RPM like that long term, but sure makes 2nd gear more livable for autox. I'm curious to see how that Innovate twin-screw SC does as far as power goes. Back to STX. |
