shaking?? or shudder..
You can't drive these cars like a honda or something. Is it your first awd car? It drives like my gsx did,but was very different from the prelude. |

if its shaking the pressure plate fingers may be damaged, if its shudder you glazed the clutch and it will go away.

You can't dump the clutch for one thing..a little slack is required..
I'm not sure I can explain it right..On the prelude, you could just dump it most of the time with not problem, but with my WRX I let it out a little slower..I'm on the stock clutch four years later.. |

Get to where you can re-create the shudder and take a service tech for a ride at your dealer.

well, i noticed that if i dont shift above 3300 rpms, it seems like my car bucks, or almost as if i dont know how to drive a manual. even though i've been driving them all my life. From what i have read, the wrx is one of the trickiest cars to drive manual whether it be an sti or a regular wrx. then some days, it seems like my car is a well oiled machine and ive been driving manual all my life (like i have).

Sorry but as far as normal driving, AWD, FWD or RWD engaging the clutch is all the same. It doesn't matter what RPM you decide to upshift so long as you let go of the gas(i.e you don't power shift like an idiot) and you don't end up in too low RPM range(like upshifting at 2000rpm and ending up at 1000 rpm- that still wouldn't cause clutch damage but you're engine would hate ya).
Well here's the most important question- would you say the whole car or more then just your foot shakes when ya engage it? If so, get it looked at. Pressure plate fingers are just 1 thing that could be wrong. You're also looking at possible rear main seals on the engine leaking or front seals/bearings on the trans leaking into the clutch assembly. If not, you indeed don't know how to drive stick and glazed the clutch during it's break in period and already burned it out(real important to go easy on break in period). Either way get it looked at from your dealer. Just prepare to pay up for a new clutch/pressure plate if you indeed burned the clutch up(only you know how you drove it). If you sincerely drove it correct and know you didn't abuse it at all during it's break in period and they say just a bad clutch only- argue that it may of been misaligned then(this happen with a friends honda, clutch burned out at 600miles and they tried to dump a clutch misalignment on abuse). If somethings leaking into the clutch assembly it will be warranty work and recorded that it had problems for later observations. Mis-aligned clutch also counts as warranty work. |

the doesnt shake at all. its just, i feel a "vibration" in the clutch pedal, like your leg is twitching, when you RELEASE the clutch...i.e bringing it up off the floor. i DO know how to drive a stick, my last car for 7 years was a 5speed, so im pretty sure that we can rule out that i cant drive a manual trans. i hope i dont have to pay for a new clutch or anything like that, i havent beat the car at all, and the time i DID get on it, it was only 2/3rd gear, and then i let off and slowed down...i just wanted to feel what it was like to have a boosted car. all of which happened when the car had around 3xxx miles on it already. thanks for the info as well |

So long as there's no blueing, hard spots or warpage on your pressure plate/fly wheel- most likely they would warranty your clutch as defective. Maybe they might stick ya all together. Just tell them "hey i just bought this car from ya guys and it has no more then 3000+change and I get clutch chatter/shudder- what gives? I'm bringing it in to get it looked at." Explain to them the truth. Trust me if you really did abuse it they will find out and you're stuck with the bill and they'll secretly mark ya down as a stiffer and it could make it hard for you to get warranty work done on for real.

**UPDATE**
so i took the suby into the dealership today to get the oil changed, and to have them check the clutch. turns out that they have had 8 other 06' wrx owners bring their cars in with the same problem as me. they said that its just the way the car is...i hope they were right |

Find some other friends with Subarus and have them drive your car, or take it to a different dealership and have them evaluate it, some dealerships are real bad about warranty work. We bought a '98 Outback new and it started popping out of first or second gear when you decelerated in gear, after about 20K miles. They flipped us a lot of crap before they finally agreed to fix the shifting detents in the trans, only after an evil e-mail from me to SOA about this dealership's incompetence. If you are an experienced manual transmission driver, don't take any crap from them. Your clutch should work the same way any manual transmission clutch works.
