I can predict the future. Watch.

I'm going to turn everything upside down one more time and not find my stupid tactrix, so I'm going to have to spend $89028130 on a new one, and then immediately after I get the new one, the old one will appear sitting on my chair or something one day when I get back from work.

My idle has changed back to 600+. Indeed the ECU was relearning after install.

I am glad that I am not the only one who can notice the subtle torque change on rev5. Lows I also feel the sensitiveness of the pedal. And in the highs is feels smoother and better.

Can anyone else tell me how much of a difference an 87/89 tune would be Vs a 91/93 tune?

I have both and have been running the 91/93 tune. But seeing how expensive gas is in Los Angeles. I might just go back to the 87/89.

~$3.14/gallon for 91 octane.

Default 2013 Impreza Tune

Iíve been doing some research on the setup TH uses to tune our cars. I might be stating the obvious but 2012-14 has different ECU than 2015&16. Thatís why some of you received rev4 (2012-14) vs rev5 (15+).

Those of you driving 2012-14 are lucky because your ECU is fully decrypted (i.e. ROM available) so TH can use that to give fine tunes - hence you get the ďaĒ versions based on your logged data. For those of us with 15+, our ECU hasnít been decrypted (ROM arenít available) so our tunes are ďgenericĒ in a sense and logging isnít possible. So we miss out on fine tuning.

The community thatís been working on decrypting ECUs (read ROMs) lost a talent and now quite slow in their progress but I have my fingers crossed for 2015+.

I might be wrong but thatís what I gathered after doing some research.

Got rev5 this morning, will get some logs back to him soon. Rev5 is way better than rev4, almost on par with rev3a

How's rev 5 after a couple days of driving? Just received it this morning

Edit: the file is called rev 5a...im guessing I would still need to send him logs to make it custom made for my car?

I'm pretty sure the a is the custom version, the regular number without the a is non-revised.

That's probably part of why he's a tuner and you're not. I'm sure he understands things a little bit better than the rest of us

I was on rev 3 (no 'a' - haven't ever logged) and got surprised with unprompted updates to 5 a couple days ago so hang tight.

To folks that have submitted logs and gotten an 'a' version of a tune - was there really noticeable difference? I didn't get the instructions for doing this and frankly was pleased enough with improvements of the generic tune that I didn't pursue it. Presumably these cars are all built within tolerances that mean any one of us shouldn't be that special, right?

Well I've been told that if you added anything to the car such as intake or exhaust to get some logs because though minute does make a small difference in gains

What's everyone take on rev5? I had gotten the 87/89 and the 91/93 tune. I run 87 for both.

I noticed still that the revs hold longer for the 91/93 tune on the highway.

I think the 87/89 isn't as aggressive. But not that much different.

I've had some really smooth good power days with the 91/93 tune running 87.

I get around 300miles per tank. Which is between 25-27mpg. I floor it everywhere.

Accelerate normally to 3200rpms. If you floor the gas pedal, there is a nice surge of torque. And also a nice sound that comes from the stock exhaust.

I recently got a tune from stock. Sent my stock tune in and got rev5 back and then 5a and 5b. On my way out to flash 5b atm. 2013 Impreza. As for gains, car wants to launch hard at more than 30-40% throttle. Has great torque between 2-4k RPMs and pulls way harder between 5-6k RPMs. There's also more power every where else. Those are the most noticeable. Money very well spent. Car runs sooo much better. Sounds meaner too. It's not mean really, but the engine sound is distinctly different in a good way. Throttle response is greatly improved. Still seems to fall flat on it's face at 6k+ RPMs. I'd be surprised if there's an noticeable gains with 5b as 5a is so well done. Running 93 octane btw. Tune seems smooth, doesn't appear too lean and it's not knocking or pulling timing that I can tell.

I just got my rev5a today. I'm going to try it out tonight - this is the first time he actually attached 2 tunes for me; I'm guessing they're for the different octanes. Seems to me there's no rhyme or reason to TH's responses or delivery time to his tunes. I've gone from 2 months from being contacted to nearly a full year. I'm not his newest customer and I never set any urgency to my emails.

How noticeable of a difference would you say the 91 is vs the 87 when using 87 gas? Also would there be any long-term harm in running 87 with a 91 tune? So far, I can't say there was that noticeable of a difference between the rev3a and rev4 87 tunes, and I doubt rev5a is going to be a whole lot different, so I'm interested in trying the 91.

I personally get around 400 miles, and my yearly average is around 34MPG. I don't floor it all that often, and, I don't live in an area anywhere near as trafficked as you.

I have noticed the difference in sound when flooring it, but is that sound not audible on the stock tune? I don't remember.
