Until I hear back from them (which I still haven't), I'm shutting this thread down.
I appreciate your efforts Mike, though it would be nice to have them fulfill what they committed to offer. In the meantime, not all is lost. I'll leave it as a sticky for information purposes, for now. May everyone have a Happy New Year! |

Ok... Reopening this thread.
I'm going to reiterate what already many of you should know, but so that there are no excuses...
Now... let's start fresh and see how productive we can be here. Thanks. |

Alright, I'll start it off:
SOA Blog, do you attribute the increase in sales for the month of December YoY of Imprezas to the styling changes of the WRX, and the Sedan offering for the STI? Or something else entirely? Or just a fluke? SOA Blog, why aren't the full Owner's Manuals for vehicles published in PDF form on the website for all to see (for every year, model, etc.)? (I mostly ask this question because it could solve a lot of questions for people that are missing them) When do we get to see another video comparo between different AWD systems in different conditions so we can see all the cool benefits of Subaru's AWD system over the competition? |

A PDF of Subaru owners manuals seems like a no-brainer, and so easy to do. What Subaru should do is set up a PDF-specific web site, with owners manuals on all models ever sold in this country. Do it by year, then model. Fore example: 1998 > Legacy/Outback; Forester, Impreza; etc. Having this available to the public will answer untold questions, and will free up SOA customer-service reps from trying to answer many time-consuming questions. There have been AWD comparison videos in the past, but so much has changed in terms of what's being offered, it's time for new videos that are more relevant to what's being sold these days. SOA Blog,
For the 2008-11 Navigation system there is a menu screen that shows a subwoofer on/off and a center channel on/off. I know that a center channel is not offered in the US. However, I questioned the Subaru.com contact people and they said that it was available in other markets. Could you see if there is any information out there on this speaker? The DVD player sends voices and background noise out the door speakers which makes it difficult to hear people speak. A center channel is required to fully appreciate the system. Any help would be appreciated. |

Umm, I filled out the form on subaru.com's contact page. This was probably 2 years ago. I gave up. Now I'm considering trying to get an aftermarket one and figure out where it goes lol. But I'd rather have real information and do it right. I just ordered a 2011 STI Limited w/ Nav and would love to be able to hear voices haha.

Well, either figure out what center channel is sold elsewhere, maybe a product #, product description, company, or picture at least hahah. OR, some info on where it is plugged into the back of the Navi head unit. I'd assume it goes near the same place as the optional subwoofer since it is turned on/off on the same screen.

SOA Blog,
Can you confirm that Subaru's definition of Curb weight is: Car in driving condition, with oil and full tank of gas, but no occupants and no cargo? Full fluids include full windshield washer tank, because this is how the car leaves the factory? Also spare tire, tools, jack and owner's manual? This as opposed to a Japanese definition that could possibly include an occupant and/or exclude some fuel? |

We just got a ton of snow in New England.
Since the subaru AWD + snow tires are really a cracking combination on my impreza, I have a couple of suggestions to make a winter package. 1. Wipers keep freezing. Pipe some engine heat up where they rest to keep them clear. It's horrible to have a great drive system, but have to pull off the highway to de-ice the wipers so you can see. 2. Rear wiper. Defroster is great, but there's no substitute to keep your rear visibility useable. 3. A little more steering feel. Useable on dry, wet and snow. Porsche like feedback would be great to keep those winter slides under control. |

Also, when you park your car and know it will be icey or snow, take your blades and put them up in the air so they don't stick. |

Why didn't you guys come up with this!?!
Please call Carmichael, or whoever is the current ad agency and yell at them. Then move the account to Dodge's, Wieden + Kennedy. |

I know Subaru did the Forester in the snow commercial, but I think they should have advertised a bit more in January/February how great their vehicles are in the snow/winter. Especially with a winter like this one. I am sure there are a few people out there thinking that they need a better car because the one they have now was next to useless in the snow.

I also like the Acura ad showing an MDX at their winter testing ground going up icy inclines, slaloms, etc. Ends with "if you live in harsher conditions then this...move." Audi had a Quattro commercial showing all of their years of development, racing, rallying, etc etc. Again, great way to showcase the system as more than just getting to the store in the snow. Subaru needs to step up their advertising and really push the envelope a bit more than "Love." They should do this... and this... Last edited by Snow Drift; 02-11-2011 at 01:58 PM. |
