Default Do you own/have owned an Axis/Raw performance block? Post up

Please only vote if you have owned or currently own one of Ron's blocks Either from Axis or the new Raw Performance.

I am seriously considering a www.raw1performance.com block. Track series long block to be specific. I have seen some floating around here. I am interested in longevity, service, etc... If you have experience, Please post. Doesn't matter if you have the Street, Track or Signature blocks, short or long. I want to hear from you.

Thanks!

Sorry, I've never owned one but I've tuned a lot of them (I didn't vote because I don't meet your stringent voting requirements). We use lots of Axis blocks and have never had anything but positive experiences, all the way up to about 500 WHP. We do probably one a month for the last 2-3 years. Ron is awesome and so are his engines!

Edit: someone should move this to general discussion as it has nothing to do with proven power.

^^Problem is that the people who probably have these blocks don't look in general discussion so I think this is the right place...

Def in for responses as I'm curious as well.

I have the Street Block.

Ron hands down has the best customer service

Cant go wrong with AXIS/RAW!

Give Ron a cal to discuss what your end goal is. Ron is great to work with, he will never push something on you, you dont need.

I will have him build my next motor as well, but that wont be for a long time...

agree.. I ended up purchasing a cosworth longblock, but suffice to say, I WAS going to purchase a sig. series through Ron. His work is awesome, customer service is great.. He has been doing it for a long time, and he knows what works and what doesnt.. IMO if I hadnt have gotten such a deal on my billet crank from cossie, i would be running a RAW setup with my 40r.. .02

I know what the cosworth can do. We have a couple guys locally that have them and they perform FANTASTIC. I just can't drop $12-16,000 on a longblock. That just doesn't fit my budget.

The reason I put this in proven power bragging is because. People that have them and have had them for a while now post and they have say 60,000 miles on the motor pushing it hard, then that is fairly proven and is worth bragging

I know 4st-Air has the Sig. shortblock with stock heads. I wonder why he hasn't posted up!?

I don't have a Raw Performance block (or an EJ series motor).

But I +1 to Ron being awesome when it comes to customer service!

I dont even know why this is coming up? If you read his thread carefully you'll realize he just purchased the short block from Ron.

From what I understand the heads were resurfaced & installed by another shop which is what the problem stems from.

My original post was to have people post up on if they have a short or longblock and what series the individual chose. I know 4st has the sig. series and I thought he had stock heads. I am debating on them doing a street block with track series heads or a straight up Track series longblock. I will have them put the whole thing together so that if something were to go wrong they would more than likely back there problem up.

I am sure that a lot of the problems are from People mismatching heads with shortblocks and clearances are not precise and then the motor goes.

Are you happy with your block Vic?

Im more then happy with it, I just hit 4k miles this weekend & so far so good.

I had Ron do the motor & heads, I wanted everything that was related to the longblock done under one roof.

I wasnt completely sold on Ron till I actually spoke with him. I would call him up and give him a rundown on what your goals are and im sure he will steer you in the right direction. One thing I've learned about Ron is that he wont sell you something you dont need, which shows good character in my eye's.

Talked to Ron, seems like a great guy. I told him my goals and turbo that I am using and he told me I would be wasting my money if I ordered track heads. With the 3076R he said just do the basic Cylinder head R&R job and cams with my Street series block and I will spool sooner and make stronger power all of the way through. He said I would make more power, but the power to $$$ ratio wouldn't be worth it.

street block is $2600

I use my heads and they do some cleaning and valve work. $795

Custom cams for the 3076R $1,100

new oil pump, water pump, timing belt, gaskets, etc... $800.

It is then shipped to me assembled as a longblock and I just have to put it in for roughly $5,295.

You guys that voted "no"

Please give your reasons! Did you do a longblock or a shortblock? Voting no and not giving an explanation is vague at best.

I have had nothing but great experience with Ron. He has the absolute best customer service i have ever witnessed in this or any other industry. I have used his motors in 2 of my own personal builds and i have used his motors in friends and customers cars. He has went out of his way to help me multiple times and is always there for advice. Trust what he says, he will point you in the right direction.

30K Miles on my AXIS Stage 3. I run the Rotella 15W40 and change oil every 800-1000 miles.

20 psi pump tune and 29 psi Q16. The SB is hands down a work of art. I currently have a blown head gasket and even with a blown head gasket the engine is not burning oil not boosting though (yes I'm pulling it and getting it fixed this month)

Someday I will match the SB up with Ron's Signature Series Heads.

Yeah.. We have a 2.4 stroker motor here that runs on race fuel only and has for the last 2 years. The motor is 5 years old now. It runs 450 to 500hp every week when the car is driven. Still seems to be going strong after all these years spinning to 8000 rpm.

9 people vote no and dont explain.......whats the point of that?

Seems like if they were really that dis-satisfied they'd want to vent about it.

Haters..

Anytime I or a customer ever had issues, Ron stepped up and did the right thing. But issues where rare.
