that Australian subaru modding guy on youtube(brett something i think) says the old 5 speeds can deal with the power, just not the drivetrain shock of constant launching

probably if you try to make the clutch take most of the punishment you will be ok. do you plan on making a lot more power?

Well, yeah. Of course it can handle it if you don't launch. I can't really "let my clutch take the punishment" anymore. With this clutch I can't even roll into a pull without it slipping. I don't have any choice but to go with something stronger (or turn the boost back) down. I think I just need to install the clutch and cross my fingers

Thanks for the good info guys!

I'll just keep an eye on this thread until Ben blows his tranny and replaces it. Then I'll launch my car till no end and just use whatever transmission he goes with. For the time being I'll just save up a nice wad of cash.

=D

Oh, I drive it. This car will be seeing the road course, where it can actually go fast. I'm sure it will see the dragstrip at least once too. Just for online penis measuring, of course.

I had an 08 Si before this and I drive Hondas every day ( I'm a Honda tech), I don't think I could ever go back!

My wife has an 07 Civic EX Sedan. It's a great daily driver. I like it a lot. But I would never buy a Honda as a performance car.

The new Si goes for about 25k and has no where near the performance of the rex, unless you're looking for a family vehicle there is no point in buying a new Honda for performance, unless you want to spend twice the money to make it fun. Sorry Xluben, I didn't see your post, didn't mean to say the same thing.

5 Door Hatch (Family Friendly)
AWD (MN Winters)

Those things pretty much make Honda's not desirable to me. Then figure in the cost to make one be able to run 11's like my car and still be usable as a daily driver (no gutted interiors or slicks) and it really doesn't work.

I wouldn't mind a late 90's or early 00's Civic to use as a backup car (not mod), but I don't see a Honda becoming my primary/fun car anytime soon. In fact most of their new stuff seems worse for daily use than the Civic we have now.

I'm in the process of building an original one owner 91 civic turbo. Got built block and all. With 350hp it'll be fun at only 2100lbs. My Suby is still my fave.

well the new civic is a dud. We have an 06, even the 06's don't have the same feel as the older honda's there is a disconnected feel to it. Its a more substantial car but the older worse civics were more fun to drive.

As far as making them fast, if you plop a K in an eg, ek or crx you can make a pretty fast car for cheap

I just dont see the point of 400whp fwd, u just spin constantly. I drove an rsx with a fairly large turbo on it, the road was a little damp and it was pretty much useless, hit boost at 5k and just banged into the limiter at 8500 or w/e

I agree the older civics are way more connected to the road, unless u get xluben in a roll. Then it's over.

Ok ok back to topic, have you been hearing about the e85 stations closing down or removing 85 in your area? I'm in Miami and a few have already stopped selling it.

I was worried about that. None of my regular ones have stopped. I really hope it sticks around. I don't want to have 350WHP

4 local stations already stopped down here . As it is there where approximately only 10. I called a few of the other stations and asked if they were going to stop selling it and they said no. My only savior is the one state owned station off the turnpike which is on a " green initiative", they hopefully will never stop.
