Thank you. If you do end up getting the DT kit, I'd make sure to upgrade the J Pipe as well. The stock J pipe is quite a bottleneck for power.

Based on that, my elevation, and results from other 2015+ WRX's running e85 around here (like THIS one), I think it's safe to say that with e60+ I'm in the 320-340whp and 340-360ft-lbs range, at least on Dyno Dynamics or Dynojet dynos. I suppose I could do a virtual dyno, but I'm not sure how reliable those are.

Nonetheless, I'm more than happy with the setup. It runs butter smooth and just rips you back in your seat when getting on it, even in 5th gear. It feels significantly faster than my Stage 2 STI did. The kit itself is excellent with great quality connectors and detailed instructions.

Thanks!
Thanks for the info . they made a lot of power on e45 blend, which is good because been hearing reports of a lot of people getting wacky HPFP fuelpressure drops from running too high of a e85 content.

Scared for your rods or nah

I'm currently running an e54 blend (averaging 27mpg, BTW) and feel absolutely no loss in power, compared to e70. Which makes sense since I've been learning that all of the power gains are achieved around e40-e45 and anything above that adds little to no additional gains anyway.

I'm not too worried about the rods at this point. There are 3 other 2015+ WRX's running around my area with e85 tunes, pushing upwards of 370ft-lbs of TQ for over a year and 20k+ miles now. One of them has even taken a few trips to the drag strip. None of them have had any issues with their motors. I do know that one of those guys reported having HFPF issues at one point, but dropping down to a lower ethanol blend has seemingly solved the problem for him.

Decided to try a dyno run with the Accessport. The results seem... accurate.

lmao! think the hp/tq numbers should be reversed lol. i thought the cobb ap numbers woudl be more inflated. I heard the virtual dyno are relatively accurate if you are on a flat road. i think there was an article where they compared the Virtual dyno numbers and physical dyno and the numbers were within a 5-10 variation

Yeah, I suppose I could find a better (flatter) stretch of road to get more accurate results. Though, I really just want to find a dyno day to really get a good idea on how smooth the tune truly is. It feels fantastic but I'd love to see what it looks like on paper.

I swapped out my Morimoto Mini H1 7.0's for the D2S 4.0's. During the process I also decided to finally install the Morimoto C-Lights. Loving the new look with them.

Thanks! Without painting the chrome reflectors black, the process of removing the headlights, splitting them, dremeling, bolting the projectors in, resealing the lights, reinstalling the headlights/bumper and doing initial leveling takes roughly 2 hours. 3 hours if you really take your time.

But if you choose to paint the chrome reflector black, like most due, that extends the whole process by 24 hours due to cure time for the paint.

I used to see you post up pics of your sti and was very surprised when you got a VA wrx. I love the progress you've made with yours and is definitely giving me some inspiration for my own stock lady.

The headlights are horrible as always, and I tried the OLM junk, but it was exactly that.

I've got my eye on the morimoto kit retrofit kit and the Diode dynamic C-lights. I'm nervous about the splitting the headlights, as I've never attempted that type of thing and worry about resealing the lights.

Would you say it was fairly simple and straightforward for you? What's your experience with that sort of thing?

Loving the progress so far!

Loving the build thus far.

how are you liking your drags? I'm going between a set of DR 33 or Sparco Trofeo 5s.

Sorry for the delay. NASIOC hasn't been notifying me of new posts, for some reason.

Anyway, the process of splitting the lights is not very difficult at all, especially if you heat them up in the oven first. Re-sealing them is perfectly safe as well, so long as you take your time and carefully apply the new retro rubber. I haven't had any issues with fogging inside the headlights and I've had them split a couple of times now.

The retrofit isn't bad either. If you go with the H1 kit, the projectors bolt right up with no dremeling. But if you go to the D2S 3.0 or 4.0 projectors, you just have to take your time dremeling and it will turn out perfectly fine. I highly recommend the 4.0's. they are the best projectors I've ever had. The light output is phenomenal.

Thanks! The Drag's have been great but the gunmetal color doesn't "pop" as much as I had hoped they would. So I actually have some Hyper Black Avid AV20's in 18x9.5 +38 sitting in the basement, waiting for spring. The Drag's have become my dedicated winter wheels.

Took a trip up to visit my parents this weekend. It was VERY cold and even reached -10 degrees at one point. However, I was extremely impressed with the car. Even with e55 in the tank it had no problem starting up, idling or running.

And that's with e55. When I was on 91 I was averaging 30MPG. I get on it hard now and then, but most of the time I drive like a grandpa.

I think I'm at 20.7 mpg right now. But of course you know the MPG gauge is roughly 2 MPG higher than the actual.

But I don't really do any highway miles so that's my problem. Also slow people piss me off so I might press that right pedal a tad more during those times.

Also winter gas FTL.

18 - 20.7MPG?!? Damn man, that's low. My '11 STI averaged that on 91 and that car burned through gas.

I do very little city driving, though. I work from home full time and live pretty far out of the city so anytime I venture anywhere I'm typically on the highway.

Yeah... the WRX sucks for city driving. I do 90% city driving for work.

I received my WRX grill badge today (ordered from here). So I finally got around to installing my JDM grill with the badge.

Funny, I was raised in Michigan and usually head back there every August to visit family for a week in Commerce Twp. You around that area?
