It only took me 10 years...
I finally got the turbo crossmember installed in my Legacy, along with the Cusco swaybar! First time I tried to do this, I found out the driver's control arm didn't line up properly with the xmember mount. I got a little more persuasive this time, and got it all together. Then realized my NA exhaust didn't fit properly. So I did a $10 fix on that for the time being.

I presume that's in preparation for doing a turbo setup or swap at a later date?

Installed a Power Stop brake kit on my 99 l. Looks great with the cross drilled/slotted rotors on all four corners. Stops much better too!
Being the car only has 50k miles on it and has been garage kept it's whole life everything went on like a champ |

finished up the back up light and turn signals. need to order dome other parts to finish the brake lights.
tried to wire up mu map lights to come on when the door opens and turns on the dome light...barely got one screw out it was so tight, and the other one no matter what i did it wouldnt budge and just stripped the head and now i dont know what to do with that. made all my doors unlock with one click of the fob instead of just the drivers door and get the magical timing on the second push of it in hopes that the other three doors will unlock like they're supposed to. haha |

Tried to trade my 2003 GT for a bigger vehicle today
I tried to trade-in my 2003 GT Sedan today and they only offered me $1800. It seems low to me. It has 169K miles a very small rust spot on one fender and has some various mechanical issues but runs great and still looks really good. I think it is leaking oil from one of the head gaskets but I am not 100% sure. I am debating what to do with it since I really need something bigger and don't have the time to fix any of the problems and I don't think its worth paying someone else to do the work. Any suggestions?

Upgraded low beams to Sylvania ultra brights, as long as they last more than 6 months I'm happy.

Note to Patrick - think you're going to find that the EZ30R IM flows better and doesn't heat soak like the EZ30D does. Putting a 5MT or 6MT behind it?

This was all on saturday, but it still counts..lol Got it inspected, drove it around all day, then cleaned it up a little. Still have a lot of things it needs though. Just nice to be able to drive it around. Lol
Next up is change the wheel color to gunmetal i think.. |

I finally fixed my sticky drivers window switch. Took it apart, cleaned out old grease, and applied some graphite. Smooth as silk. Just wish I would have done this a LONG time ago.

In the last week I plasti-dipped my grill and windshield wipers, changed my oil, got an OBX crank pulley installed with new Gates drive belts, got new OEM front lower ball joints installed, and installed a new Denso alternator (mine was dying out).

Got the EZ30D into the car.
On Thursday I got the Fidanza flywheel back, so I was able to put things together this weekend. I rolled the engine on its stand out into the driveway, lifted it up on the hoist, and installed the flywheel and clutch: And here's the clutch and flywheel installed: With those bits installed, it was time to stick the engine in the car. I wrapped a couple of fender protectors around the valve covers and front of the engine to protect my snazzy paint work, then lowered away. Took the "typical" wiggling and shaking and what-not, but it was relatively painless to get the engine and trans to slide together. It's definitely a tight fit. A thumb's width of clearance on the driver side, and a pinky's width on the passenger side (due to that little bracket that sticks out from the frame rail). Before lowering it all the way in I installed the plugs and coil-on-plug packs, as I figured they would be damn near impossible to get in with the engine in place. Once the engine was in I spent ~45min fighting with a cover plate that bolts to the rear bottom of the engine block and covers the flywheel and clutch at the bottom of the transmission. That frakking plate was the hardest part of the whole operation!!! Only two bolts, but getting the threads started was damn near impossible. Hindsight being 20/20, I should've installed the plate before dropping the engine in, but I was afraid it would get hung up on the tranny as I was trying to get the engine and tranny to mate together and would just piss me off, so I left it off. I think it pissed me off more as a result, so definitely a lesson learned if there is a next time!! Still lots left to figure out - exhaust, cooling, accessories - but obviously this was a pretty big piece of the puzzle to get put in place. |
