Default All Subaru Drag Shootout

Who would be interested in attending an all Subaru Drag Shootout here on the West Coast next spring 2012? I'm not sure if I'll get in trouble for posting it here as I don't know my forum rules that well.

Just want to gauge interest on how many East Coast, Mid West, South East, etc..racers would make the trek out here?

There are more and more Subaru's running single digits so I think it's time we figure out who's who in the drag world.

I'm sure I could get some Subaru and Subaru dealer support.

Suggestions?

thanks

Ali

Great idea! For me the tow to the event would be 30 hours plus.
Would love to attend but just to damn far even for me. I've entered events at Indy, chicago,Norwalk and NJ. 10 hours of driving is my limit.

I might be willing to make the trek depending on if the ESX drag car will be up and running for the event. I'd love to see it in person.

What date you guys thinking? Only issue is that it's an enormouns voyage for me being in extreme east canada. But doable if the dates are right.

This would be a great event to show how far the subaru community came along from a few years back where only a hand full of cars were runnig 10's to now seeing so many more enter the 9's. I think making it a more centralized in the country would be better off so it would be easier for more subarus to come out and play. Trailering a car to the west is pretty expensive so maybe get an idea on who would be interested to come out and play and finding a good track that more cars can show up at.

Works well in the mid-west. I wish we would do one more towards the center of the US.

^^^what they said. Being an east coast guy, that's like 40+ hours of driving.

Texas would work as an equally sucky place for all parties

It would be like 20'ish hours for me (and MD05STi too, pending where) and wouldn't be much more for those North East guys. P&L would have about an 18 hour trip.

Then again, Eric Hsu and I are suppose to meet up for beers...assuming he's not at SEMA or PRI this year.

I will come there, but my car definitely won't be done; but i'm down to shake some hands and pit crew.

I do think meeting in the middle would be best(as in literally, somewhere like missouri) and we can get a track without to much safety teching

I'd be up for something a little more central for everyone. You would have to have extremely good payouts for the east cost guys to justify driving out that far. The cost of diesel/gas alone to get the car and trailer out there will kill the east cost guys.

agreed, it's just to much for the East coast guys imo.

Not to mention...I don't think the even would be fun without east coast guys, and I don't think it would be fun without west coast guys. Let's all meet in the middle!

How about scaled payouts depending on how far you traveled. Cali guys get the least but a FL guy could get 3x the payout or something. It would be enough incentive to offset some of the costs.

We could turn the MWSOC Shootout into just plain Subaru Shootout or something and make it a bigger national event and try to privately rent the entire track for a day if we had a big enough amount of people coming.

This is held just west of Chicago so it is fairly central and both Byron and GLD (if we had to use them for some reason) are about as loose on the rules as you could be without being completely derp.

As long as it's near a good party city and not in the middle of Ohio like the DSM Shootout

perhaps a two car trailer and splitting fuel would be a good idea
