Default Dyno-Comp: Grand Opening, AWD Dyno pricing, and services...

Well, we are almost ready!!!

Dyno-Comp is located at:
8295 East Raintree, Suites A&B
Scottsdale, AZ 85260
(2 blocks West of Loop-101 on Raintree)
www.dyno-comp.com

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the capability of our AWD Dyno and our services.

Dyno's are NOT created equal...

Low Roller Inertia - Accuracy and Sensitivity:
At Dyno-Comp˛, our dyno utilizes 18" double-rollers under each tire resulting in ultra-low inertia which is the key to maximum accuracy, and sensitivity. Our dyno detects the slightest change in power allowing us to fine-tune your machine to obtain the most reliable maximum engine horsepower! (Other popular dyno's have massive 36"-48" rollers, resulting in poor sensitivity. You miss out on heaps of information which may mask a host of tuning problems, thereby limiting tuning potential.)

Full Dynamometer Control - Measuring HP:
Our dyno actually MEASURES horsepower and torque based on a load of 0-100%. Precise control with electromagnetic retarders enable Dyno-Comp˛ to reproduce REAL driving conditions under any load, at any RPM or speed for extended pulls while monitoring Boost, Air/Fuel ratio, and Exhaust Gas Temperature.
(Other popular dyno's are free spinning and have NO load control. These are known as inertia dyno's that only CALCULATE speed/horsepower/torque, and they operate on the basic principle of calculating the rate of acceleration of a known mass. Therefore, one must take a pull, make a tuning adjustment-via best guess, then take another pull, and repeat until you hopefully get the desired result.)

All-Wheel-Drive Dynamometer Control:
Power split between the front and rear wheels varies between car manufacturers. Our dyno incorporates a very sophisticated AWD control system. It maintains PRECISE control by monitoring and maintaining 50/50 load, or any desired load front to rear. Certain types of drive systems are as follows:
- Four wheel drive locked. - Four wheel drive diff between the diffs.
- Four wheel drive viscous. - Intelligent European transmission.
(Most dyno's do not have load control, and some dyno's may offer a retarder option, but they cannot monitor, balance, or maintain load front to rear. Nor can they show power or other readings while the retarder is working. Therefore, speed front-to-rear can vary greatly which may lead to expensive transmission damage.)

Live-To-Screen Dyno Tuning:
Dyno graphs and diagnostic data are displayed live-to-screen. Horsepower, Torque, Tractive Effort, Boost, Air/Fuel, Exhaust Gas Temperatures, etc. are all monitored REAL-TIME during each run. (No more waiting for the graph at the end of the dyno run when it's too late!)

Tractive Effort:
Our dyno measures TRACTIVE EFFORT in addition to horsepower and torque. Tractive Effort is the efficiency in which power is applied to the ground. For example, there are (2) identical cars with 500 HP. Suppose, one car has 25" diameter tires, and the other car has 20" diameter tires. The car with the smaller diameter tires will have LESS "Tractive Effort" resulting in quicker 0-60mph times! Dyno-Comp˛ can actually measure the effect of various tire and rim sizes, and under the same scenario, dial in optimum gear ratios!
(Other dyno's cannot measure Tractive Effort, because inertia dyno's calculate power; they do not measure it.)

Quick Set Up - Value for the Dollar:
Dyno-Comp˛ customers get the best value because of fast set-up and more available tuning time.
With double-rollers cradling each tire, strapping the car down is unnecessary unless over 300 HP to the wheels; then only one simple strap at the rear is needed. During "dyno-days", there is little or no wait between cars. That means satisfied Dyno-Comp˛ customers! (With other popular dyno's, the car sits on-top of ONE large roller so each car must be strapped down front-and-rear resulting in extended set-up time.)

Safety and Tires:
Knurled rollers provide excellent traction keeping tire temperatures down and traction at a maximum.
(With other popular dyno's, wheel spin is a common problem because the tires must spin such a massive roller.)

Performance Part Installations:
Utilizing our state-of-the-art 4600 sq.ft. installation and tuning facility, you can count on the experienced professionals at Dyno-Comp˛ to do a top-quality installation for you! *We also welcome our customers to furnish their own performance upgrades! "You bring it…we'll bolt it !" (Our shop labor rate is $65/Hr.)

They tuned my old WRX and got 267 out of it. They get the job done but they are a bit pricey

What are your guys current setups? I am stage 4 with fmic and tgv delets. but I am only making around .1 bar on a buddies road tune, I really think there is a lot more power for me to get... About how long does it take to do a base one, and some minor tuning plus another run? 3 hours?

1-1.5 hours to do that and that is the max it should take. It takes about 31 seconds to do a baseline (Ive had 2 cars tuned and flashed by rich but both were ECutek so i dont know about UTEC)

Richard and Co. have tuned 2 of my cars and I have been very pleased with the service. I plan on a retune by them of my Wagon and a ECUTek flash of the FXT in the next few months.

Joe did my suspension and brake work as well as my whole USDM stage 4 before I went JDM. Actually tuned me too once. A true profesional. Kinda wish something would break so I can come in and shoot the breeze like old times. Course, Joe always had work to do and I was the annoying customer who inturupted him but he always made time to answer my stupid noob questions. I learned alot from him early on. Thanks Joe.

DynoComp is a first class shop and you can feel confident they'll do the job right the first time. They are not the only quality shop in town, however--I've had work done both at DynoComp and KingPin, and like (and highly recommend) them both. DynoComp's in N. Scottsdale. KingPin is in S. Phoenix.

DynoComp does not work on UTEC (at least Rich told me a few months ago that they would not... though they used to some time ago).

If you really want utec, you will have to hunt down Clark. Just send him a PM because I think that will be the only way you will reach him.

DynoComp---their name supersedes them, PERIOD!

Clark at KingPin Performance is a master at UTEC and EcuTek tuning, and he's easy to reach...

Anyone that lives in the greater Phoenix area is lucky to have at least two excellent tuning shops--Dynocomp and Kingpin--there are others but I have no personal experience with them.

Another vote for Dyno Comp. Rich is the only tuner that would ever be allowed near my WRX's ECU after having it tuned elsewhere. Those that comment about Dyno Comp's price should try driving around for six months on a tune that knocks like crazy. IMO, some things are worth the extra money, but sometimes it takes an experience like I had to teach you that.

Are you kidding 6 months sounds like you should have listened to your own advice..Its funny though he (RICH) tunes his car traps high 120s the same gas and set in custumers car traps low 110s.HMM Saving quite a bit of power in his pocket ,just a thought.

I should revise that - drove around on a road tune for six months, thought everything was fine (no white exhaust, plugs looked OK, boost was right where it should be). Bought a Knocklink, installed it, and saw that I was knocking occasionally at 3500-4000 rpm and consistently above 6500 rpm. Called the tuner, got the runaround, took the car to Rich and got it fixed immediately - he even stayed a couple hours late to accomodate my schedule.

Not sure what you mean about the traps, but I'm sure you know that a tune isn't the only thing that plays a part in trap speed. Driving, tires, setup, and track conditions all play a big role, so your comparison doesn't quite hold water.

Again, I'm posting personal opinions here. Had my car tuned elsewhere (haven't named the tuner because I already settled things offline), the tune was crap, and Rich took care of it and gave me back a car that made it to 80K miles and endured several track days and plenty of drag races in the meantime. Oil analysis was spot on at 75K miles and a compression test at 60 showed a tight engine. I would not have had that if I had stuck with the other tune (or if I hadn't invested in the Knocklink).
