Default I need help with my Ground Controls-Please

I just put on a set of Ground Control height adjustable springs on my car and I am not able to adjust the height on the rears. I didn't get one of those wrenches that grab the lower spring perch but GC promotes that you don't need one. The front move if you put a good amount of oomph into turning them but berring plates in the top mount. What do I do about the rears where the top mount is berringless?

HELP!!!! I have the height set as high as it goes and my car now has the ground clearance of a Hummer. Seriously more clearance than am Outback. This things is sitting high and I want to drop it a little.

Thanks
Brad

the collars have an allen bolt in them. you need to loosen that bolt to allow free movement of the collars

I'm pretty sure the allen bolt was as loose as it gets. Did anyones kit come with another wrench for adjustment other than just the allen wrench? I think I need a grabber style wrench that fits in the notches of the lower perch.

Did you try simultaneously jacking both rear wheels off the ground?

Make sure there's enough bumpstop at higher ride heights... push the bumpstop all the way down and measure from the top of the bumpstop to the bottom spring perch and compare that # with the fully compressed length of the springs (found on GC's website).

The bumpstops have nothing to do with this one.

When I tried to adjust the car it was on a lift about 6 feet in the air.

Somebody please help.

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

Actually, the bumpstops do have a part to play in this... if your car is too high, if you fully compress the springs, they're coming off your car because the bumpstops can't do their thing.

Did you cut the bumpstops in half when you installed them on the new struts? Can you adjust them higher? If the collar doesn't adjust either way, then there is something wrong.

Did you install the coil-overs to the struts or did GC? Maybe they are installed to high? (just grasping at straws here).

Mine aren't too difficult to adjust, just make sure the allen screw is really loose and the wheel is completely off the ground.
BTW I didn't get any adjustment wrenchs or anything just the allen wrench.

I can't believe GC STILL isn't routinely supplying the spanner wrench to adjust the bottom spring perch with their coilover kits. I had to call GC and get them to send one out; you may want to do the same. It looks like a semicircle with a handle and has prongs that fit in the slots in the bottom perch. Do that and use some WD-40 on the threaded collar...

I am planning on calling GC for the wrench that they said they would send out when I first ordered the setup.

Thanks for the input guys but the bump stops have nothing to do with my problem of not beeing able to adjust the height of the rear suspension.

So AaronB-you have the same setup and are able to adjsut the rears without a wrench? Do you have berring plates in the back??

Hopefully I will get this resolved soon.

Thanks
Brad

I don't think you're seeing our point... yes, the bumpstops don't have anything to do with you not being able to adjust the height, but it's dangerous to be driving with the car raised like that with inadequate bumpstops.

Sorry, The bumpstops have not been cut yet. Actually in the directions it says to cut them but we have not yet. I wanted to get this height situation taken care of before cutting them.

Just as a side note, I just talked to Ground Control about my problem. I ditinctly remember Tony telling me he would send me a tool kit (i guess he meant the Circle Grabber tool) when he shipped my kit. Well no tool came. I just called them and explained my problem and the guy said "Oh you need a tool". He said he would send it right out. He told me it would be here by the end of the week. He put up a big fuss when I told him I need it by tommorow because my car is sitting parked because I haven't alligned it yet. Right now I am not real happy with them. There product has been pretty good so far but there service has pretty much been sucky. They also forgot to send a rubber gasket that appeared in the directions. Did anyone else get this with thier Ground Control kit?

I have not needed the spanner tool to adjust mine yet and I've had them on two different cars. Just loosening the allen set screw and twisting the coller seemed to do it. I had the wheels off the car of course. Didnt need WD40 either.

Good luck.

Read my post in this forum under "wagon suspension ramblings..."

I have had excellent service from Ground Control Suspensions. Their adjustable spring perches work fine and allow me to go higher or lower than stock. Tony shared his info freely and his advice was accurate. I don't think you can find an adjustable system for close to their prices. You could pay alot more and still have a variety of problems.

When shopping in the modification aftermarket some mechanical/fabrication creativity and the willingness to undertake risks is usually necessary.
