Default What's up with COBB?

Not to seem naive, I have been working on my house all summer, but what is up with COBB? I went on their site and there are only a fraction of the products that there used to be? I was looking for springs and other COBB goodies and they don't seem to be at most other retailers as well. Was there some announcement I missed? I had promised myself a treat to COBB-out my stock '07 STi when I finished working on my house and could save up some extra cash (Suspension, exhaust, AP etc.). I haven't met either goal yet by the way, but I'm trying .

The word on the street is that they are focusing on the AP only. All hard parts are stopped from being produced. It cuts down on warehouse, and overhead. The mark up after developement is not much for hard parts and the market is pretty rough right now. Smart business move on their part

Yeah I was pretty pissed when I was looking for some endlinks and their short shifter, but oh well.

and I don't know for sure if my springs would fit on your sti but if they do I am going to be selling them probably here in a couple weeks or so. I have had them for a little while but are working perfectly and don't make noise, well unless I can't hear from the noise my sway bars make, but if you find they would work and are interested let me know in the next couple weeks.

Agreed, but it's nice to put a face and name to the people you give your business too. COBB has been great to me every time I am at their facility.

The AP is the money maker.

the digital screen, wires, plastic that make up the AP are by far cheaper than the Stainless Steel and R&D for the exhaust. Pay the Code master's salary and Biggie to do the images for the cars and the rest is pocket money.

MODE is Billy Brook's company, he was the hard parts designer for Cobb. He has taken the parts he made for Cobb and turned them into his own and even fixed some of them that had known issues. I'm sure when he gets more established, he will release more parts to the public.

COBB has stopped some hardparts for now, but the shifters and other items are available through a new company started by a former COBB hard parts engineer. Check it out, http://www.rallysportdirect.com/shop...cturers_id=180

Two year old news...

http://blogs.cobbtuning.com/2007/11/...-2007-wrap-up/

That should explain it a bit for people. They are refining the business with respect to a tuning focus and broadening it with respect to vehicles they will support with their Accessport technologies.

Things MODE racing should make IMO:

*Diffuser for 02-07 WRX, 04-07 STi and 08+ WRX/STi

*Exhaust manifold that doesn't crack (APS is the crack master)

*FMIC made of Carbon Fiber piping that fits with major Rotated kits and an 80mm CAI to fit.

*Coilovers with all the function of Ohlins but affordablity of BC Racing

That is all I can think of for now BB.
