Default 181stLeader's Aerosim Research Carbon Fiber Widebody

Since RS25 doesn't get much traffic I decided to start another journal here on naisoc. My original thread can be found here if you want to see more details: https://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t16...ody-coupe.html

The next phase for my car is a Aegean Blue 96 Impreza L Coupe. I have swapped shells over from my 95L getting ready for the carbon Aerosim kit(I couldn't bring myself to install the carbon kit on a salvaged title car).

Picture of the 1996 L coupe the day I bought it.

Out of all of that awesome-ness, I'm going to ask about this. I've got a '96 Brighton, and have no intentions of completely revamping it like you did yours, but I do appreciate convenience mods.

I assume the wiper stalk gives you variable intermittent speed? Is there anything special about using a GD/GG wiper stalk (as opposed to one from a GC/GF/GM)? I actually haven't looked in the junkyard at other Imprezas, but I guess I would've assumed that other GC/GF/GM cars (with higher option content than my lowly Brighton) had variable intermittent wipers.

Damn... this is pretty awesome.

Hows the brake balance with the 6pots front and 2pots rear?

Not much different than stock due to the pistons having less area that the stock Brembos. According to the math it shifts slightly forwards but it hasn't been noticeable to me

No prob! yeah it gives you the intermittent wipers with like 3-4 different time interval settings.

None of the GC cars at least in the US had the intermittent wiper stalk. The GD is PnP to the 98 ans up cars I'm not sure it will fit on the 93-96 tho. There may be an early Legacy that has the 93-96 style plug/stalk and intermittent wipers.

This thread explains what you need for the pre 98 impreza:

That's funny, I had to do that for my Mazda (although that involved a friend in Germany pulling a variable stack out of a junked 626).

Nice car!

Bro. Your car looks refined. I mean the way you did the 22b widebody is spot on. I see other 22b replicas and there is just something off about it. Props for all the hard work that went into this.

I know this is an older post but I was wondering where you got your brackets made and if they'd make more! Love the car! I hope to do something similar!

Very impressive. Your car's a nice balance of classic, exotic, and modern Subie. Tasteful, functional, clean, and fast.

It's like the best GC touches, 22B styling, GD technology, and a sprinkle of aftermarket without going full mod. Really cool.

How much planning/time went into it and how long did the full build take?

The brackets for the Porsche 6 pots? I designed them myself an cut them on a water jet.

Thanks! The body kit took about two years for me to install as there was tons of fabrication learning along the way.

Subie challenge round two was last weekend at Chuckwalla Raceway. This was my first time at Chuckwalla.

My first session I got a 2:30.5 lap as my best. I managed 2:21.5 in the second session saving 8 seconds off. The fastest time of the S2 class in was a 2:04. I'm happy to be getting some seat time in as the car is totally different than before and I'm used to lower speeds of autox so the road courses take some getting used to.

Unfortunately a few laps into my 3rd session the throw out bearing popped out of the pressure plate and I had no clutch after that. I was able to get it back to the paddock but my track day was cut short. AAA took forever to come and i had to take two different trucks to get home.

I had just swapped out my Competition Clutch for a Exedy OEM replacement and lightweight fly wheel(I have hated the Competition Clutch, stiff and makes noise when you feather the clutch).

I'm not sure why the TOB popped out of the pressure plate but ill be pulling to motor today to find out.
