I'm sort of the reverse. I test drove a 2016 WRX and loved it it was the first Subaru I've ever driven. Getting back from the test drive the salesman tells me someone was already interested and I could leave a deposit. I said see ya and I test drove a 16 STI the very next day and purchased it, but at times I do wish I got the WRX for fuel economy reasons as I drive 60+ miles a day.

aftermarket - being a cheap a*&
Last Christmas, I regret paying for cheap aftermarket exterior lip and side skirts and spats.
The good part is I realized is "you get what you pay for" before installing. I ended buying the OEM stuff and I'm glad I did it cause it actually fits. |

Selling my 04 sti and my 05 sti, I miss those 2, especially since I had them at the same time. But now I have an 06 sti after selling my Evo X, so I guess there is that.

P20 on my vf34 was a huge waste of time and money. Even more so because I ceramic coated it myself.
Biggest regret was letting a local pro tuner touch my car. 20 revisions, 20 dyno pulls only to have me reflash that **** he charged me $900 for off my ecu the second I got the car home. The most pathetic maf scaling I've ever seen and the guy didn't even know how to tune turbo dynamics. Basically I drove it in with a better tune than I drove out with. |

I thought I was a better rally driver than I had originally thought... this had me tangled up with a barbed wire fence and 8k of work...

offroading / trailing my 2005 WRX.
Dropping in an ej207 and letting it just become a 10mile/day dailydriver. |

Interesting. I picked up an 03 hatch so it's cool to read what people regret.
I supposed I regret not getting a PPI before buying my 03, even though it wasn't that big of an issue. |

I regret having my 2012 WRX pro tuned with an aggressive tune. Blew up in a year after babying it (for fear of blowing it up) and spending all the extra money doing the right things for maintenance. Should have just left it be.
But, even though Subaru replaced the short block for free and I returned it to stock, I never felt comfortable with it again so I traded it in and ordered a new 2017 STI with everything I wanted on it. So I guess it wasn’t all bad.... |

I currently have a 2015 WRX and my regret is not buying an 06 STI. They're my favorite generation and I'm not really sure why I didn't consider buying one when I bought mine. My dad owned a black one and I really liked that car. I've considered selling my car for a Hawkeye but it doesn't make sense with a family ):

Thinking I needed a custom exhaust for my back end.
I melted the plastic above my exhaust exist in the rear bumper cover with my Tsudo cat back. So my idea was to cut out the section and install 1 half of the metal exhaust shields that come on the widebody hatches. That part went great, shield sits/protects exactly where it's supposed to. The hole is bigger that the standard exit hole now though, and showed a little more of my exhaust piping than I liked, so I decided to have a custom axle back welded that would fill said gap. It didn't come out. Oh lord did in not come out. The guy who did it was super cool, but there was a bit of a communication breakdown. It essentially straight piped my car and took out the muffler. Thing was stupid loud, and the pipes were too big, I was scared I'd drag them on an incline because he never cut them down. I had really high hopes, and it didn't come out anywhere near what I had hoped it would. I had it on for maybe 30 hours before I couldn't take it anymore. $350 bucks later I learned my lesson on custom car parts. I'm now stuck with a hunk of metal I don't want/can't use and was only built for my car, it's the "No Man's Sky" of my car world if that makes sense. |

Unplugging my egr was a mistake for me. After less than a year the egr gasket would leak with hot temps and make this terrible vacuum leak noise and made the car run like ****. Should have just deleted the egr from the beginning.

Putting an OBX header on my Forester. It's not a pleasant sound.
Otherwise my many years have been pretty flawless. |

Literally everything because nothing ever goes smoothly.
But also nothing because I love my car. |
