That's why most people put a small aluminum plate under the battery bracket to flatten the mount location (or get it tac-welded in).

Or just screw it into the body in the corner, and then use the self-expanding foam to fill in to a flat spot, and then mount the battery with tie-downs.

Or just buy a battery box.

That controller tmic is the coolest idea ever!

And on the subject of the battery. As most of these cars are daily drivers, I don't think moving the battery to the other side is going to matter that much. Yes you have a point about weight distribution but its obviously not a "race car" seeing as he still has the interior in.

Jumping on someone for which side of the trunk they put their battery on is classic NASIOC. Thanks to Keith and all involved.

Hey I dont think anyone meant to start anything, ill be the first to agree that putting the battery on the passengers side would create better balance, but Im not even moving the battery for weight reasons so I just went for the easiest spot.

to clarify... I wasn't jumping on him for it, more curious to the reasoning then anything. But it stands to reason that if your going through all of the work to move your battery... in which the single primary reason is to move the weight and bias from the front-left corner into the trunk is to attempt to bring the bias back towards the CG point and to offset the weight of the driver as much as possible.

So, really, the question is then, why bother doing this work at all if your not doing for weight distribution ? (This is an honest question, since I don't know of any other reason to do it, other then for the fun of it).

I'm not trying to start crap either, I just get a kick out of this sort of thing, the different ways people think about modding their cars. I've thought of relocating my battery, just to get it out of the damn way. Weight distribution is a valid point, but it just seems trivial to me since I'm mostly driving back and forth to work. Besides, doesn't the battery offset the added mass of the turbo?

Welp, guess you gotta take out your driver side tail light! (I know you're thinking about if that would balance haha)

-ignoring weight difference between tail light and battery of course

Left-right weight balance doesn't mean much of anything; corner balancing is what matters (LF+RR vs RF+LR) when it comes to weight distribution. Putting the battery on the opposite side of the trunk wouldn't offset the driver's weight, it would add to the driver's weight. Without knowing what the stock corner balancing looks like I can't say whether that would be a good or bad thing, but as already pointed out, it's pretty much a pointless discussion for a street car, anyway.

Not sure how unique these are, but my car has a side skirt delete mod (I think it looks WAY cleaner), and also custom painted headlights.

2.5rs's come with no side skirts. See mine:

I've gone back and forth with picking up a set of wrx skirts but I like it this way too.

Hmm weird. Goes to show how much I know about these cars lol. I still like the clean look though. Only problem is the pinch welds show under the car now, so I'm debating whether to bang them up or paint them flat black

Banging them up only increases the chance of getting rust from those folds.

That was my thought...not too worried about rust living in the desert, but it just seems like a bad idea

Also agree don't bang them up. I would use undercoating or maybe some roll-on bed liner to disguise the welds.

As someone who has repaired crushed, rusted (causing holes in the floor and inner rocker and beyond) pinch welds. DO NOT bang them up.

If there is any moisture where you live, you will grow to regret your decision. If you look at them closely, they have built-in drains and reinforcement points. Your 10 minutes hammertuning will lead to hours with the sparkle wrench later. Trust me.

Paint them black with something, don't bang them up. If you really want to do it right, you'd have to shave them but out comes the welder again to do it properly.
