Is that for the sport? My wheels say up to 44 psi... 32/30 seems awfully high.

What does it say in your doorplate? I was almost certain that the specs for 17" wheel we're same for limited and sport versions.

If you mean the sidewall of the tire says up the 44 psi ignore that number.

The correct PSI for the car is indicated in the door jamb (32 front, 30 rear for my Sport).

I see little point in over-inflating the tires. Any minimal extra MPG will be offset by a harsher ride and more tire wear.

you are absolutely right overall. i actually have always (more psychological from the mileage point of view) inflate them 1-2 psi higher in the summer boost mileage and i don't find that such a small increase gives a harsher ride. tire wear is of course, questioanble. during winter, however, i make sure i'm at spec to give slightly better traction. i'm sure in the end 1-2 psi doesn't mean much as who knows how accurate these gauges are anyway. (although i know my 3 hand gauges measure the same to within 1 psi...the gauge on my compressor, however, reads about 3-4psi high relative to those hand gauges)

So are you suggesting 44 or even 46? Or the 30 numbers? I recently dropped mine to 40 all the way and lost almost 4 mpg...

I personally would not infalte my tires more than a couple PSI over the manufactures suggested PSI (32 front, 30 rear). That's just me though...

Well in that case you should inflate your tires with nitrogen to 100PSI!

If you use hydrogen that is good for a slight vehicle weight reduction but may result in Hindenburgitis whereas your tires explode when driving in NJ.

Are you really overinflating your tires by 10 PSI+

Do you add an extra quart of oil to keep the dipstick wet all the way up to the handle?

Were you aware that you have an owners manual that tells you things like the proper pressure to maintain in your tires, and that the max inflation number on the sidewall of the tire relates to the tire, but not the car that uses the tire?

I'm talking 30 numbers. Rather than 32/30, I would run 34/32.

Again, probably small differences.

I know hyper milers would do 40 but I'm not willing to sacrifice ride quality.

I know this was a few weeks ago, but someone mentioned seeing an orange peel effect in their paint and suggested disappointment in the factory paint job. I just happened to look at my car tonight in the right angle and lighting and I can see it on my DGM. :/. Anyone, know what the long term effects of this less than smooth factory paint will be?

I don't think I've seen a factory paint job w/o orange peel, I'm not going to worry about it

What you're seeing is not technically orange peel. The paint on this car is not particularly glossy (at least I noticed on the hood). I wouldn't worry about it, I think it will last fine.

Sorry wasn't trying to be technical. But I could see what the original poster was referring to. It's a sort of texture to the surface if viewed from just the right angle. I didn't see it before so it's subtle but there once you see it

Can you send me updated pictures of the car with the spoiler? I just ordered the Sport Premium DMG and wanted to add a spoiler to it. Just want to see the difference from a side view.

And it is Orange Peel. No other way to descirbe it.

Can you see my car all the way from Atlanta? Thanks, but I'm well aware of what my paint finish looks like. Super smooth & shiny as of right now at any angle in any light. I've never complained about my paint finish & don't really need your 2 cents.

Default Painting Fog Light Housing

I've only seen the lip as an option on the Subaru website when you go to build it. It's about $500... I personally think lips are only worth about 1/2 of the asking price, but I'll be saving so much money on monthly payments and gas when I get a 2012 that I won't really care to spoil it with a $500 spoiler.
Did you end up painting your fog light housing? If so can you post a picture? I plan on doing it also but wanted to see how it looks like on a darker color car.

I wound up not getting a 2012 Impreza right away. I've had my WRX for sale for a couple of weeks, some looks, no bite. Still deciding if I want to be responsible and get a 2012/2013 Impreza or something else since I don't plan on living in Alaska forever.

Plus paint shops aren't cheap, especially up here. I have a tS-replica spoiler sitting in my trunk that I need paint-matched before I sell the car. Just too broke to get it done right now. haha

Thanks for reminding me! Gonna see if I can get a quote during my lunch today.

I heart these new Imprezas. Very well-defined vehicles.

This plus the fact that Subaru made the steering wheel too many turns, lock-to-lock. This pretty much RUINs the floppy paddles. The older, more common, "manual" shifting based on moving the AT lever to the side works MUCH better when the steering is screwed up like on the '12 2.0i.

You might, but others may have a different perspective.

The increased "harshness" is noticeably less than switching from 16" wheel to 17" wheels. Or 17" to 18".

Increased tire wear is pretty minimal.

Tire pressure has been used to fine-tune handling for close to a century now.

Default Roof Spoiler

1) Remote Start - Shuts down when you open door = FAIL
2) Proximity Sensor - Makes nice beeping noise but most ppl will ignore if its heard

3) Roof Spoiler - Need help on this one. It definitely adds a very sport look to the "Sport" model however I looked at the install manual below and because there are no written instructions. I can only surmise that with no screws in the part list that it is secured to the body using double sided tape?

http://techinfo.subaru.com/proxy/660...210fj600xx.PDF

If so, are there are issues with theft? Is the spoiler interchangeable with Impreza WRX's?

I live in NYC and there just too many idiots out there who like to vandalize/steal ppl's stuff...

Did you ever end up getting the roof spoiler? If so did you do it yourself? I plan on getting it but didn't want to pay the dealer install cost. Did you find a manual on how to install?

I am searching for instruction with words not just pictures on how to install the roof spoiler for the 5 door. I don't want to pay the costly arm and leg from the dealer if I can prevent
it.

Also, I has anyone upgraded their headlights and or fog lights with an HID kit? If so, can I see pictures and what was the difficulty level?

No you're wrong. You don't always get orange peel when painting a car. Your statement about it not being wet sanded ergo orange peel is false.

Thanks for clarifying.

"Performance parts" on a 2.0i is a fairly oxymoronic statement since it's just not a performance car and is limited with its naturally-aspirated engine. It won't BE any faster, but you can sure make it LOOK faster.

The spoiler would involve some wiring of the 3rd brake light that may or may not be cumbersome, depending on your know-how. Although the wiring for the stock spoiler might be lengthy enough already?

There was a picture months ago of someone that installed a poor HID kit. HID kits are not difficult, but paying for projector retrofits would be the shiz! Do it!
