A couple of my posted pictures pretty much show the headlights. I can take some even closer pictures of the headlights tomorrow. All I did was instead of just separating the headlights and painting the inner trim piece that easily pops out, we taped off only the circular dome areas around the 3 bulbs (high, low and turn), the main areas that reflect the light output, and we painted everything else. I think this way looks much better then just painting the trim piece and it definitely looks better then the stock unpainted headlights. I am a strong believer that this mod is a necessary modification to saabaru's and most 02-07 subies. What do you mean by retrofit?

When I first learned of the fabled "Saabaru" I didn't believe it. Then once I saw one in person they grew on me more and more. I love the red, and I love the car. I'll definitely be checking up on this to see how it progresses.

Awesome, I just want to see where you taped it off. Your headlights look really cool. Xenon retrofit is when you use a projector from an OEM projector car and retrofit it into your headlight. Pretty much you get rid of the glare people get when they put hids in a halogen housing. I'll be using TSX projectors for my hid retrofit.

Sorry for a long time of not posting.
Here are my best photos of my headlights. Anything reflective silver/chrome was taped over so everything else was painted.

Here is a photo of my front end in its current configuration.

Also an update, had a oem HID bulb die on me. A replacement from O'Reilly was priced at $90 which I said no to. Researched a little and found theretrofitsource.com. Bought a pair of Morimoto D2R bulbs for $45. Stayed with the stock 4300k and so far they are doing great. All they have to do is last longer then 1/4 of the life the $90 bulbs would last. That would make them definitely worth it.

^Thanks

Well, something might have happened to the saabaru. Nothing catastrophic, still drives fine, everything still closes and seals but it doesn't look very good visually. Just needs some doors and a little rear fender work. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. :/

Yeah, accidental sideways. Starting understeering, first choice I made was to try and get the rear end out to get the car around the corner. After about 5 seconds of that, I decided to let off the gas a coast hoping the front would get a little traction and redirect in the correct direction but nope. Here I come road sign. My dislike of side mirrors seems to have come back and so has my dislike of paint and love of crinkled and dented metal. :/

Just have to get a mirror and I will deal with the door replacement later.

I've been a big fan of the 9-2x's for quite a while. I wanted one a few years ago, but never found a decently mileaged one.

Hopefully you'll get fixed up quickly.

About to get a mirror. Thankfully I am getting a red mirror. Thank you NASIOC members for having a spare red mirror.

Got my mirror today. It is from an 06 wrx and it is red. Woo

The red on this mirror is pretty shiny and new looking. It is gonna show how faded and damaged my paint is.

Got a good guestion for anyone, I have a horrible powersteering leak. Over this month,I have gone through 2 quarts of powersteering fluid and am on my third. This leak only came up after my recent longblock replacement. I know the pumps then to have the seals go bad and my pump has always been really dirty showing that there has probably always been a slight leak but all I did is put the pump on another longblock. The only difference in the system between before the longblock swap and after is I had to bend the hard powersteering lines a little to clear my external wastegate. The lines touched the ewg before the longblock swap so I know they needed to be bent out a little. The contact actually rubbed away some of the aluminum housing of the tial ewg. Could I have damaged the lines themselves or are their seals between the lines and the rack that could have been jostled or damaged from my bending the lines. Let me know what anyone thinks. Thanks

So far the powersteering doesn't seem to be leaking anymore. Had to cut an inch off the rubber hose which is the return line going into the reservoir. The line was cracked. Also put screw type hose clamps on both ends of the rubber line and on the end of the line going to the pump from the reservoir.

The idle is a lot better to. I put a shim in the bov. It was slightly open at idle. Much happier with the car now.

Made a video of my exhaust. Prodrive Oval-tip Axleback, coupled to a Turbo XS catless Stealthback exhaust system with a catless uppipe for an ewg. It is a pretty quiet exhaust system until I modded it.

I put a 1-3/4" pipe into the muffler, mostly cancelling out the muffling of the axleback. It sounds great and it actually isn't that much louder on the highway or just cruising. Very decent yet still awesome.

Exhaust sounds mean, I love it.

Sucks about the scraping down the driver's side, that's one of my biggest fears whenever I have some fun in the snow. Looking forward to seeing you mend it.

Thanks. I love how a $12 mod turns my cars sound from slightly rumbly and nice to monster almost straight pipe awesomeness.

Fixed my idle issue by putting a shim in my Forge BOV, it was slightly open at idle. Attempted to fix my powersteering problem by cutting an inch off the return line going into the reservoir since I had a lot of signs of dripping over there. I also put screw rape hose clamps on those hoses but I am still going through fluid like it is water. I am on my 5th quart of fluid over 1 month. I am now smelling burning fluid and my pump is very greasy with some puddles of fluid under the pump on the engine so my next fix will be to do a rebuild on my pump. Hopefully that solves the problem. :/

Finally found the source of my powersteering leak. Some very visible and frequent drips coming from the return line (rack to reservoir) under the coolant reservoir so at the highest point of the line in the metal part. Just going to replace the line. A member near me has one from an 04 sti and after doing a lot of research, I have concluded that the 04 sti return line is the same as my line. Had to dig quite a bit because my car is pretty much same as an 05 wrx except for the 06 wrx powersteering rack. Will have that fixed soon.

Still have a slight misfire at idle but I am not worrying about it at all. Probably the best way to get my car to get back to running properly is to find a recirculating bpv. A forge one would be nice. I know the stock ones work fine but I like forge and my tuner says the oem bpv's sometimes don't close fast enough between a hard/fast shift. Not really a big deal since the 5 speed will break if I drive like that which i don't like to do.

Current Plans/Thoughts for car:
Replace powersteering line.
Look into why passenger side windows not functioning :/
Find a Red driver side front and back door.
Look into getting a Forge BPV or just something recirculating.
When summer wheels and tires go on, get oem winter wheels cleaned up and powdercoated.

Fun stuff

Update on the Saabaru's Current Shenanigans,

Bought a used PS return line, removed the short ram intake to find out the leak is coming from the high pressure PS line right where the metal hard line is crimped into the rubber line, right under the crimp. Buying a SS Braided Teflon high pressure line made by F4M Motorsports from APM Tuning. They look really high quality and there is a group buy going on but it really isn't getting anywhere but whatever. Here's the thread.
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2598135
Currently running the PS system dry right now because I don't feel like risking that fire hazard anymore. Might be destroying my pump though :/
Hopefully if need be, I will replace the bearing in the pump and hope that fixes it.

Figured out that I am an idiot too when I said I need to figure out why my passenger windows weren't working, the button on the driver door console, that locks all the windows except obviously the drivers window, was on. :/

Still looking for red doors.

Also just bought the OBD2 Bluetooth Adapter to be used in conjunction with the Torque Pro app on my Galaxy S4. Looks like a really informational and fun app for car people, and for ~$20 total to be able to red codes on the spot and diagnose problems, should be well worth it.

P.S. I am REALLY SICK of WINTER. Stupid cold and crap road conditions. Haven't caused any more damage to the saabaru, just angry at mother nature. Needs to warm up so I can fix things and put the summer wheels back on.

So I installed the F4M high pressure powering steering line and I still have a horrible leak and it isn't coming from those fitting or the rack itself so all that I'd left to do is swap out the low pressure line. Otherwise there isn't anything else I can go. Also I am getting too use to the manual steering, so much that when I did have power steering back for 150 miles, I recognized that I like having the greater feedback of manual steering. Manual steering does suck though in parking lots and very low speed maneuvering.
Summer wheels are on and I need an alignment because of winter. Front left wheel has a little bit of positive camber and I want to put -0.5° on the fronts instead of 0°.
Still working on getting the front driverside door from a seller. It is red too. Just found a rear door in red but it is in California. Sounds like the seller is ok with shipping. After I get the 2 doors replaced, all that is left is getting the back fender repaired. Then she would be beautiful again.
I am going to look into gold plasti-dipped my stock winter wheels. I also wanted gold wheels on the red saabaru.

Just some shots after some spring cleaning.

I'm pretty sure I passed you on I-96 on my FJR going eastbound on Friday evening last week. Your car looks great other than the side door damage!

Went to the MSU Car Show this past weekend. It was great. Technically the first car show I have ever participated in. Great day, lots of awesome cars and cool people. The loudest exhaust contest was sweet too. Unfortunately none of the Subies could match some of the uncorked V8's.
Did the DIY front lip, the one made out of garage door weather stripping. I like it, not perfect but it does the job. I still have no powersteering and I'm still in the process of getting an undamaged front door. :/

Did the DIY Garage Door Front lip too, looks pretty decent for a $30 rubber lip.

Livin' dat low life.
