Default Increase in strength ? RA 5 spd vs wrx 5 spd ?

As the title says, I'm interested if there is a worthwhile increase in durability between the stock 2004 wrx 5 speed transmission and the 5 speed RA sets I see available.

My vehicle will be used mostly for road course / time attack duties in street / mildly tuned classes. Possibly 300 whp / wtq maximum on this motor. IF you have any other suggestions I'm all ears. I considdered a 6 speed, but I'm trying to see if theres a way I can get away with an alternative thats cheaper in price.

I see the benefits of the 6 speed in both performance and durability however do I really have to bite the bullet and dish out the money ?

Any suggestions welcome.

Since you have an 04, I personally don't see an RA set as that much of an upgrade. If you were to put a gun to my head, I'd GUESS that it would constitute a 5% upgrade in terms of strength and reliability vs. what you have. If you could find an OLD RA set, it would be a better upgrade, but those are impossible to find. Buying RA sets is a mixed bag though unless you buy new. Another cheap option would be a Legacy GT gearset as it's nearly identical in ratios/strength (opinion here) as the current RA sets new and about 50% of the cost. Other sets to check out would be Kaaz or mFactory as those ratios might suit you and they are lower cost. But....you need to email or call a Vendor and talk with them about your speeds seen/gears used in your racing as the internet isn't a great source for the best advice as it has to be catered towards what YOU do if you understand me. No sense in buying a XXX gearset if it doesn't perform like you want it to. So get on the horn with a Vendor and if you hang up in less than 10 minutes, find another vendor.
