AZ has a law that says you cant mod. your tag in anyway.. But they are also pushing a new law (I support it) that says if you try to cover or change your tag, be it with a plastic cover thats tinted, sprays, paint, marker, etc... any officer can stop you and sight you right then / there.

There is a much easier way to avoid getting flashed on either the HW or @ an intersection.... SLOW DOWN & Don't Run Reds.

Right now in Washington, only a handful of cities have red light cameras in operation right now.

But there are a lot more who either have them on order, or plan to install them soon.

FYI************* south bound 101 between cactus and greenway, DPS's Van parked on right hand side, very misleading through there your speed should be no more than 60mph, even though 100 yards back the speed limit is 65mph, I am f-ing sick of the construction btw.....any way watch out for that fun camera....

so I heard a little from a friend about a possible lawsuit. If you're out of state, they can't serve the ticket, so anyone out of state is safe. Since there are drivers that can get away with speeding past these cameras, is it a discrimination issue?

A mobile speed cam unit is now on on Rt. 51. Currently, he likes to hide behind the end of a segment of "soundwall" on the Northbound side about a halrf mile north of Cactus. Another new threat to citizens using Rt. 51 is an UNMARKED DPS car that is actually a BLACK FORD F150 CREWCAB PICKUP TRUCK WITH CHROME TOOLBOX AZ LICENSE CE53922. Speed cams and covert cops do not save people from speed demons and drunk drivers, they are merely fascists generating revenue at the point of a gun. When the DPS went with speed cams, they declared war on the citizens and became enemies of the people. And so, it's time for the citizens to form cells and join the resistance. It's a war out there, know your enemy.

After the speed camera pick axe guy - we have learned that the cameras are very very robust with bullet proof glass and the like

Dabuttkracken was doing some research on speed camera's in the UK since they have had them for 10+ years


here are the 3 most common ways they deal with speed camera:

- Run the camera over with a large truck

- Hang a used tire on the camera and set on fire

- Puncture/drill the top/side of the camera housing, apply a full can of construction expanding foam to the interior of the camera housing

Law targets license-plate frames that obscure 'Arizona'

License-plate frames that celebrate your favorite college or sports team become illegal next month if the frame obscures the state's name.

Starting Jan. 1, police can stop you if "Arizona" isn't clearly visible at the top of the plate. Violators will be fined an average of $135, plus court fees, depending on the city where the violation is discovered.

Law-enforcement officials say the law will help officers differentiate between in-state and out-of-state vehicles, a difficult task given the state's profusion of specialty plates. Arizona issues license plates in more than 60 styles, from a plate honoring amateur radio operators to one that promotes wildlife conservation

The Legislature passed the new-plate law in 2006, but delayed implementation until 2009.

"If a witness can tell us that a vehicle has an Arizona plate because they can clearly see it, that helps us immensely," said Harold Sanders, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

Critics say the law is likely to cause confusion among Arizona residents, who are largely unaware of the new rules.

"It's going to cause a lot of headaches for consumers," said Bobbi Sparrow, president of the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association. "Consumers who have had their old frames for years and years are now going to be illegal."

Implementation of the law was delayed to give auto dealers, which use plate frames as a cheap form of advertising, time to redesign.

Some motorists said they were uncertain whether they would be in violation of the new law.

Daren Baker, a software engineer from Scottsdale, has a dealer frame on his Land Rover. With "Arizona" only partially obscured, he wasn't certain whether he would be pulled over.

"Who's going to enforce that?" asked Baker, 34. "It doesn't seem like a great use of officers' time."

It will be up to officers to determine whether "Arizona" is clearly visible. Sanders said most violations would be obvious. Drivers with out-of-state plates are exempt from the law.

With less than a month before the new law takes effect, the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division is encouraging motorists to check their plates. There are about 6.7 million registered vehicles in the state, and no one can say how many might be affected.

"Most people only go look at their license plate when they put their new sticker on when they renew their registration," said Cydney DeModica, an MVD spokeswoman. "The real bottom line here is that everyone should walk around and look at their license-plate holders on the back of their cars."

It's advice that even lawmakers need to hear. On Tuesday, half the 26 vehicles in the Arizona Senate parking lot bore frames obscuring the word "Arizona."

I-17 s/b just past the I-10 overpass. I was 5 over and the flash went off.

I think the best solution is to try to burn out the bulb in these cameras. Here's the plan:

1. Get about 5 cars together
2. 2+ passengers per car
3. The driver wears a mask
4. The license plate is in the back window but someone sits in back to hide it when driving past the cameras

Now, just do circles and keep driving past the cameras and setting them off...they'll burn out eventually right?
