Not likely... it's the same harness for both...

It's the same harness. If you had a 2011 wrx/sti or below then it would be different.

I love the entire setup i am making a new system install on my 05 wrx and i have madea post here. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2343518

I was thinking of making the amp panel like you have in your trunk but i have been meaning to ask what are those pins you used to hold it up and those plastic clips that are on the wooden panel that latch to the pins?

Thanks. I actually ditched the overhead amp rack. The smaller subs freed up a lot of room in the tire well so everything is going in there instead. Major emphasis on keeping as much usable trunk area as possible with my build.

The clips you are referring to are Aerotech Hood latches. They are meant for aftermarket hoods lol. They actually fit the bill really well in there and worked awesome. I got the ones that had the lock are them so they were like $90 or something like that. Not exactly cheep but whatever. I can use them for something else down the road.

Mini update:

So the new battery finally came in. I am hoping to have the sub box DONE tomorrow. Well at least to the point where I can mount the subs in it. My box came out to be 1.35cu and I got the ports ball parked for 30Hz. Pretty stoked about that since I was guessing on what I was going to get out of it.

My new version of my amp rack is almost complete as well. Biggest thing I gotta fab up right now is a battery box type thingy for my 2nd battery. Still working on the layout for my wiring so that's probably going to eat up some time tomorrow. I'll post up some pics when I get the chance.

Hey SVX,

Tried to PM but your inbox is full. Have a 2012 STI with Nav. Have a cam and would love to wire it in. Do you sell a harness for this? How hard with your harness? How much?

Thank you!

Answering an earlier question: To build your own "breakout" harness (to add an amplifier for the main speakers or a subwoofer), you'll need Metra 70-1761 and 71-1761 harnesses (or equivalents). I know that Metra's have all of the pins needed by the Subaru HU. I have not yet checked whether Scosche's harnesses do.

ADDED: I now have factory-made combined "breakout" harnesses with the Toyota-style connectors. This is a much better solution to combining separate harnesses, as Metra's and others have several shortcomings (including the 71-1761 plastic plug not fitting properly).

Actually I had an extra boot laying around from my 06wrx. Honestly just go to the parts counter at your Subaru dealership and get one from them. Tell them what you are looking for and they will find it. 02-07 I know have rubber boots. Not sure about 08-11 but I know the 12 has the stupid plastic fail boot.

Yes, ask for like an 07 wrx or something. The '12 is plastic and you can't do crap with it.

Hmm... update... yes.....

Sooo..... I didn't finish the sub box.... I found some holes that needed plugging and I didn't feel like messing with the kitty hair today so I said F it. I did, however, finish up my new amp rack. I don't have any installed pics yet but I do have some out of the car pics. I think it turned out ok.

So I know putting the fuse block on the bottom of the rack might not be ideal, and will probably be a friggen PITA if I ever have to change a fuse. BuuUuUuUuuut, if I blow a fuse I got bigger problems and really how often do you blow them? NevAr! so

P.S. Don't mind the cluttered filthy pig sty know as my garage....

COOL! I like the new AMP table. Well i will only have 2 amps so i should still have a decent space to work with im also going to make the stock trunk floor board out of 5/8 th inch MDF and carpet it. Here is my new build tell me what you think? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2343518

I was thinking of running a 6 speaker setup so the front doors = 6 3/4, then rear doors = 5 1/4 and i was going to make openings in the back for 5 1/4 also because there are perfect holes in the rear windows almost looks like they were made for speakers. Anyways i was thinking for running the left two 5 1/4 inch speakers from one channel and the right two 5 1/4 inch speakers of another channel and leave the other 2 channels free for the front door speakers. The amp i am using puts out 75 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms so i could run the 5 1/4 inch speakers in 2 ohms setup right?

Honestly man I think you are trying to put in more drivers than needed. Like I stated in your thread you sound stage is going to be behind you and sound funky. I would be looking into doing a 3way front if you really want to run that many drivers.

As for powering all those it could be a bit risky. That amp doesn't say that it's 2ohm stable or anything and those 2chs are going to be sucking some juice. You could damage the amp or the drivers doing that. Not to say that you can't but it's designed for a 4ohm load. If you still want to run that many maybe consider a 5ch and a 2ch amp, or a 6ch an a mono, or a 4ch, 2ch and mono or 3ch. You get the picture lol.

Did you fuse the connection from alternator to battery (+) ? If so what size? I ordered that rubber boot from the dealership.. It's about $7 Canadian.

lunch break update:

isolation boards for the amps are done. I put everything on it except for the subs. Didn't feel like running the extra line for it and that connector is very easy to get to so whatevs.

Plastic piece clips over the top of the board to hide it.

Different angle. Oh yeah.... I like velcro

All you gotta trim if anyone else is looking to do something similar.

Covered up.

Update:

She lives!!!! That's right I finally got everything up and running! Things I have left to do though are: 1) build a battery box for the trunk 2) Trim up the carpet to accommodate the amp rack and subs 3) build a grill for the subs.

I must say though the ms-8 can be pretty tricky. Tuning this thing is proving to very timely. I will post up some pics of what I have done so far and a review of my setup. Still compiling my thoughts on that one. You know the whole, what I could have done better, what I would change, and what worked really well.

Oh, so you probably what to know how it sounds? Pretty damn good. I'm still eq'ing so I'll post my opinions on it when I think I can't do anymore.
