![]() @maperformance: My brother and I both are planning on getting our access ports from you guys, but we both also recently bought TGV deletes because AWD motorsports was selling them for $40 shipped and it was too good to pass up.
I was wondering as far as the tune goes would this be something we could just pay extra to have the map modified, or do you think the provided tune would be ok to run with it? If it's not something you can modify, or don't recommend us running it with the provided tune, then we will just have to wait and have them installed at a later date. Either way we plan to get the access port from you guys. Thanks!

![]() Looks like Manley00 answered your questions already. You do want a tune for the TGV deletes. I may be able to have a custom tune set up for you. Or, I do plan on getting TGV deletes soon as well. We could have them tuned on my car, and that MAP can be sent to you as well. I think we can work something out for you.

![]() I am interested for sure.
I run a Stage I 93 octane map right now from Cobb because it is a flash it and forget it map. I like that ease of modification. I do not want to be messing with and worrying about AFR's, and knock detections... is the Maperformance tune what could be called, 'tune it and forget it'. Meaning are you expecting your customers to send you data logs for revisions time and time again? I think I may be down for this. |

![]() Our tune is designed to be a "flash and go" tune. However, every car is different. It would not hurt to send us some logs to review, but this is not an E-tune. This tune is pretty much good to go out of the box.

![]() I have not seen a single blip of other users experience with the map yet.
I flashed mine this morning before getting my kiddies out of bed. I will get my first drive with it in about 30 minutes. It will be a drive to work, about 8 miles, so the tune will still be in full tilt learning mode, stop and go traffic, at about 85 degrees outside with a lot of humidity as it is about to rain. I flashed from a cobb OTS stage I 93 octane map. Initial impressions pending.. in 5,4,3,2,1... |

![]() I wish I could take the credit for sending my buddy SCRAPPDO to MAP. I'm always telling him MAP this, MAP that. This Evo 10 guy loves his MAP go-fast bits.

![]() I really appreciate that. He is one of the first group of guys to get this tune. Hopefully it's up to his standards. If not, we are going to work with him to make sure we can make any improvements for future customers!

![]() I flashed the tune from a Cobb stage 1 93 map like Scrappy did yesterday after work. Ran it on my drive home from work (about 25-30 miles) and also collected some datalogs.
MAP's tune is fantastic. The car pulls much better than it did w/ the ots map. Probably the most fun I've ever had driving home from work. Once I get a charge pipe I'm going to have the car dyno'd at my local shop to see what kind of numbers are being put down. Great job guys!! |

![]() Well the car started fine and idled like it normally did. So far so good right. I was taking my kids to school so it was a perfect time to just feel how part throttle inputs feel in linearity and smoothness. How did it come on power? Where there any dips or surges? I was paying keen attention to this. If a tune is not capable of being robust under light throttle applications as well as WOT is not worth the time to flash it.
I am happy to say the car drove very well. It came on power with pedal application without any jerkiness or surges. It responded very well to pedal inputs. I may even be persuaded to say that in 1st and 2nd gear it feels almost as throttle responsive as a NA engine. Which is high praise. The car feels lighter. A common phrase thrown around is every gear feels like the one before it. 1-4 are just a pleasure to be in. 5th and 6th at this point I had no data yet. Hey I was dropping off my kids, I drive like a grandma in a Buick Electra with my children. After the kids were dropped off, I looked at the AP for peaks and readings. I was looking for two things mainly: Knock detection, which was 0.00 DAM which was 1.00 Well that was a good start. So now that I was child free and it was just me I thought about a few runs I would like to try. I did a pull to 5000 in 3rd, once with a smooth throttle application, once with a sloppy slam to the floor from low rpm. Knock detection, was 0.00 DAM which was 1.00 Next up was 4th gear. Again low rpm slam to the floor, and various other harsh cases. Knock detection, was 0.00 DAM which was 1.00 Now at this point I did notice my boost gage was showing a 22.1 psi peak. Well that was interesting. Must have happened on my 3rd or 4th gear run. Cobb hit 20.1 on my factor gage for comparison. So now I was heading to a slight hill. Good, perfect time for a torture test. I put it in 6th gear, at 2100 rpm, and floored it up hill with the AC on. Held that for about 5-9 seconds. Knock detection, was 0.00 DAM which was 1.00 At this point I was feeling pretty happy. I got back into some normal driving in 1-4th gears, stop and go, passing traffic and the best way to describe it the car now is like they took COBBs smooth map and made it stronger. I need to drive it more in 100 degree Houston weather to check on the robustness of the map. ***8216;lucky' for me it is in august and we will have a few more week of that before fall arrives. One last note: Full disclosure here. When I pulled into work, my factory boost gage was still at 22.1. My AP peak was 23.57 psi. This may have happened on the 6th gear pull, but I am not sure. Was it a brief overboost like the OEM tune allows. Remembering my car when it was new would hit 22.1 psi peak on the oem boost gage as well. I think the OEM gage may only read up to 22.1 psi. The AP either reads higher or samples at a faster data rate. If it does not read higher, then the OEM tune may have hit above 22.1 psi as well for all I know. If the OEM missed the peak and the AP caught it due to a faster sample rate, then it was definitely a momentary overboost which again the factory tune allowed. Overall, I think MAP is on to something here. The tune feels good in all throttle applications. Appears to be as conservative as a COBB OTS map. I could see this being an attractive option for those who want more power, but without going some place for a dynotune OR wanting the hastle of the etune back and forth(log email log email log email). Looking forward to hearing Ians comments. -SCRAPPYDO EDIT, Yoo Shin should get credit for getting me to MAP. He is the one that keeps reminding me to see what MAP is up to. He recommended I give MAP COBB AP a look. But a recommendation that is not backed up by great customer service is a dead end. MAP seems to be committed to customer response and communication. I think we could use a lot more vendors like this. Last edited by SCRAPPYDO; 08-19-2015 at 10:41 AM. |
