I love this thread so much!
I think there needs to be some more GC love though, so here are a couple shots of mine! Stock everything except WRX rear sway. All season tires. 859573_10151569939345774_1974615280_o by cbevirt, on Flickr 858218_10151569950570774_882561977_o by cbevirt, on Flickr 858867_10151570486800774_1685501022_o by cbevirt, on Flickr |

Had a little adventure today with the old Scoob today. Managed to get very stuck... To be fair though it didn't look as near as soft as it turned out to be...
Luckily I was able to give a buddy a ring and he came and gave me a quick tug with his full-size pickup ** Disclaimer, the "body work" and "paint job" were done by the previous owner. I just haven't had a chance to do some real body work and paint. I know it looks pretty ridiculous right now. |

I saw this on subaruoutback.yawn, I figured that's what the paddle was for.

Awesome thread - so long I had to take notes!
Freakin' awesome thread - I think it took me two weeks to read (3,481 posts)! I had to take notes along the way:
Post 2557 is a great explanation on the two primary different ways to lift: (1) suspension changes with or w/o spacers; (2) just spacers. Thanks Anthony! Skip posts 2665-2680, 2685-2689, 3349 and 3350. I appreciated when folks stayed on topic and these were not on topic. Post 3229 - exactly what I want to do! Lifted on 1" spacers in winter for ground clearance (it was too low this last winter) and stay stock in summer! Any opinions on the difference between HDPE and aluminum spacers? And now I know why folks like silver subies - harder to see the paint chips! The chips on my brand new one are driving me crazy. Every time I clean it, there's a new freakin' chip. Post 3436 cracked me up! I once got an F-150 stuck on a rock like that bordering a park; I couldn't see it when I went to leave, the tires went up and over great, but it got caught on the undercarriage. Had to be lifted off by a tow truck. Not my pickup truck - I woulda never bought that thing to begin with. Does anyone know what the specs are for the suspension on the XV Crosstrek - is that borrowed from a Forester? God, if they'd offer that with a 2.0XT (a la 2014 Forester) or even a 2.5L N/A, I'd be in it. Thanks all for sharing your rides and experience. It's been informative! Or should I say formative? FYI, I just picked up some cheap 15x7 40mm offset Drag DR-33 wheels and they barely touch the front wrx calipers (2 pots from early wrx... mine is a 2002). They touched so lightly that the wheel would still spin and it didn't have enough contact to even take the paint off of the wheel. I got plenty of clearance with just a few passes with the belt sander to the caliper. Just thought I'd share for those of you on a budget. I mounted some used hancook rally tires and now I'm ready to go play in the dirt.
These are the wheels: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...r=1&wd=15&rw=7 These were close and would most likely work with a little more removed from the calipers: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...3&wd=15&rw=6.5 http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...4&wd=15&rw=6.5 |
