Default I guess my car doesnt need the STI engine mounts...

The other day, I saw some STI engine mounts in action on a WRX... Rev the car, and the engine doesnt move at all vs. stock where the engine would move a good 2 inches vertically. Same with the RS...

But my car doesnt seem to move at all when in the same situation... Perhaps is cause my car has only 110hp, but i didnt expect it to not move at all!

Anyone else with an L notice this???

I still could use a tranny mount though I believe... its aweful corroded down there

You may still benefit from the mounts. During neutral revving, there is very little load to rock the engine around, however, under load(car in gear and accelerating) I have little doubt that your engine is moving around quite a bit more than you know.

Most interesting way to check: pull the hood off, take a short drive, and peek at that engine while modulating the throttle(watch the road too, obviously).

Yeah, it's irresponsible, but you can get some interesting pics, some good info, and a few laughs for a half hour of work.

no engine movement?? yeahhhhh, you need to do something about that...that 1.8 should be moving around a bit, as if to say, "free me...i want to get out of this engine bay so you can put the RIGHT engine in here...look, i'm trying to help you out already."

mine does...my engine has a bit too much spunk. it knocks the intake elbow against the underside of the hood every time i start it...but it's still not running rough or anything.

I never looked at how much the engine moved before/after I installed the STi engine mounts. Truthfully, other than a little more noise and vibration, I didn't really notice much of a change at all. The tranny mount was much more beneficial, IMO. All three together do give the car a nice feel, though.

I guess this post is entirely non-helpful.

Kost - you're engine doesn't move at all?

My car bucks and thunks a lot when I'm shifting. Just revving the engine when I'm sitting still causes it to rock the car a little. The engine and tranny mounts are on my list of things to do buy soon.

I had someone floor it a couple times while sitting there in the garage, and it doesn move much... I just think its cause I dont have any torque

My tranny mount though looks like a sponge... No really, its like all corroded and junk I had a chance to switch it with someone else, but my mount wont fit on 97+ cars aparently...

Ummm.... Tranny, left engine, and right engine. Makes the car feel more... "connected" I guess you could say.

Well there is the upgraded pitching rod someone was selling in the vendor forum for $50... That might be usefull too, to keep the engine from moving front/back during acceleration/deceleration.

Thumbs up

I just got the STi Group N set a few weeks ago. Love 'em!!!

Or well, the engine ones anyway. I don't notice the transmission mount at all.

Mine moves around quite a bit. My 100,000+ mile engine mounts just cant contain all of those wild horses under the hood.

Mine mounts feels like rubber bands

There is by the way a difference when the car accelerating compared to the reving on neutral.
When reving the engine on neutral the force which revs the engine isn't nearly the same than when on heavy load like accelerating - way less gas is burnt. The force which is applied to the parts after the clutch directs the force generated by the engine to the engine mounts.

When down shifting from high speeds the effect is reversal - of course this works from low speeds as well, doesn't feel though.

Maybe you Kostamojen have your mounts on better conditions than mine, but I can feel the engine nodding fairly heavily when full throttle accelarating and switching form 1st to 2nd.
