Default Did I FUBAR my ECU?

I have a 2004 WRX Wagon EJ205 (USDM) and I am getting ready to pass it on to a new owner. I am putting it back to stock and was attempting to install a stock rom. I found one on romraider, connected the green connectors and the flash block like I've done many times before. The install went normally or so I thought. Once I installed it, I started the engine and the CEL came on immediately. I looked at the rom again and realized I installed a JDM stock rom instead of a USDM. I thought to myself, you big dummy and tried to re-install the correct one. The problem I am having is ECUFlash will not read the ECU now. I have tried using the USDM and the non-USDM vehicle selections and still get errors. I have looked for the JDM XML file and it is there. Learning view connects and gives me the ECU Information. Romraider Logger will not connect, stating that it needs the XML file. Its there, I've checked multiple times. This is the JDM rom I used: 2004 JDM Subaru Impreza WRX MT/AT A4TE200A 3D0440300. Here are the errors from ECUFlash:

Does anyone know what could be wrong? Did I FUBAR it? Could the ECU be locked somehow? If I left out any needed information, let me know and I will try to fill it in.

Yep, you definitely want to use a ROM from the same market/year if you're trying to go back to OEM. The original ROM from your vehicle is ideal, but if you don't have that, stick with something in the same market. ROMs have a lot of changes across markets, and in some cases are actually using entirely different ECUs during the same year as the manufacturer will often roll out a new ECU in one market only before rolling it across all markets. RomRaider is definitely the best place to check online. If they don't have something there, feel free to email us at Tactrix (support at tactrix dot com). Happy to help.
