Does anyone have any experience with SF Bay Area mobile audio dealers? Can you recommend or warn of anyone?
Cheers

My car was broken into back in December.. I'm finally getting around to thoughts of replacing the stock unit sitting (litterally) in the dash. Biggest problem is that the theives cut the harness pretty deeply into the dash.
Thoughts: Aiwa CDC-MP3 Kenwood z919 AutoPC (anything else that can play Mp3) ALso thoughts: Replacing stock door speakers with separates. I'll gladly take any suggestions.. |

Call 415-456-1681 tommorow and ask for Jeff. Tell him you are a buddy of mine and he'll help you out. Are you going to do it through insurance? Just talk to him, tell him what you want and he'll tell you what he can do. No BS. Our store is one of the top car audio stores in the USA.

If you're looking for MP3, there's always the Empeg player -- http://www.empeg.com/ -- the 2nd generation product has on-board Ethernet and voice recognition. And it runs Linux.
Long waiting list for one, though. |

Empeg _starts_ at 1099$. For that money there are a couple of other alternatives that I would start considering. Installing and integrating a PC into the car for example.
Thanks for the advice Alex, I'll be in touch today.. |

You are absolutely correct that it is too expensive. But the "geek-gadget" factor is off the scale . . .
Thanks for starting the topic, I was thinking of asking the same question. |
