Thumbs up Fantasy Football War Room - 2018

I figured we needed a new thread for the new year.

I'm doing three leagues this year if there's still a spot open in the OT league. Looking forward to it.

In my main league this year (20th year and I am the commish) we are keeping one player. I am trying to decide between David Johnson or Kareem Hunt. Probably DJ but will depend on my draft position I think.

Best of luck to everyone.

I'd be down for the $$$ league if I can squeeze in.

I got the 4th pick in my keeper league draft (12 person). Still leaning towards keeping David Johnson over Kareem Hunt. This seems to be what all the "experts" and ranking sites would do. Anyone have any contrary reasoning?

What's the best lineup you've come up with in mock drafts so far and where in the draft were you?

Didn't hunt's production taper off in the second half of the season?

*checks report*

Weeks 5-13 he was pretty meh then finished off the season quite well.

I think DJ will be more consistent assuming he doesn't get hurt again.

I don't think Candlejack can host the league this year. I'd volunteer but crazy busy. One of you please consider it! If you're interested I can get you his phone #.

DJ realistically has the potential to have 1000 rushing and 1000 receiving yards this season. It's not even a question that he is immensely better than Hunt.

Yeah, everything points to him as being the choice and he should once again be a work horse, but it's just hard to keep a guy that had no production at all last year. And I could potentially redraft Hunt at 4 too depending on my options at that point.

Umm, that's because he had a broken wrist. You say that like he was healthy but just didn't do anything. DJ could easily be the #1 RB this season. Hunt? Not a chance.

Pretty much. DJ was a beast the past 2 seasons he was healthy. Hunt is too new and was too inconsistent last year, IMO, for him to be considered over DJ.

I understand that and I totally get and agree that he should be the man, but the fact is he sat for a year and to assume he's going to just step right in again and dominate is not a given. Thankfully the injury was not to his legs, so yeah, it should be like old times with him. Hunt has upside too, but not like DJ. You've reinforced my decision for sure. I'm keeping Johnson.

I picked Johnson off waivers last year, and am keeping him this year.

It was either him, JAX defense, or Theilen.

Everyone else.

Srs...I don't know. Cooper was soooo bad last year. Maybe he's due now?
Robinson is fresh off the injury but with a 2nd year QB..on the Bears. Cooks is somewhere in the middle.

Probably Robinson 2, Cooper/Cooks 3.

I took Gordon (slow offline draft in progress)

His production is insane... only concern is whether he can stay off weed

Correction - His production 1 season, 5 years ago, was insane.

And further, he did most of his damage in a 1 month span where he had 775 yards in a 4 game span. That 4 game span is something like 25% of his career production. Take those 4 games out and he's nothing more than a pretty average WR2.

And this is equally disrespectful to the athletic freak that is Flash Gordon.

Look at his stats last year... He only played limitedly in 5 games...

335yds and a touchdown. 18.6 YPR.

With a trash QB.

Extrapolate that out to 16 games... Then factor in a better QB...

Old?
Yes.

Still a completely legitimate concern, given his history?
Also, yes.

It really isn't if you've been paying attention at all. Weed was the least of his problems and it's pretty clear that he's been doing everything right in getting clean and growing up.

Yeah, I drafted Gordon over Landry. Might be a stupid move, but I think the reward is worth it. He's definitely been off the tweed. His court dates have been going well and he seems focused and ready. I believe he'll get a **** ton of looks over Landry

Had a draft last night. The league is all people in my neighborhood and I had completely forgotten about it until I received an email with the draft order at 7:30, 30 minutes before the draft. I haven't done a bit of research other than decide on my keeper in that other league. 10 teams, I had the 7th pick

This is what I ended up with

QBs - Garappalo and Mariota
RBs - Fournette, Dalvin Cook, Burkhead, Kenyon Drake (start 2)
WRs - Diggs, TY Hilton, Crowder, Kenny Stills, Golladay (start 3)
TEs - Olson, Walker
K - Prater
D - LA Rams

Not feeling too good about this team and if I make the playoffs I'll be shocked.

I've found that no matter how bad you draft, if you pay attention all year and make good waiver wire acquisitions you've got a shot to win. Even the best draft is only a couple injuries away from flipping to awful.

Very, very true. The QB spot is so deep this year, I think I'm ok there (waited until round 10), and decent at RB too, but my biggest concern is I am very WR challenged given the fact that we start 3. That's where I'll have to be shrewd on the waivers if a #1 guy goes down.
