I could see them bringing a turbo Crosstrek to market, they seem to be putting the 2.4 DIT in everything with great success.

But a 6 speed? No way. That would mark Subaru doing something unexpected for the enthusiast for the first time since the S209. I just don't see it happening.

It is quite common in Japan for vehicles to not be shipped with Radio's. They leave it up to the consumer to get whatever they want.

Oh, I was quite upset when I stopped by a retailer in 2008. Few of the cars had something there. Just empty. I asked why, they walked me over to a display and said choose. There was at least 6 options with 4 different NAV options. While we only got the one and it not being an option. Push button start was also an accessory then. 2008 base model Legacy wagon on their floor had push start. Rear A/C vents and remote rear seat fold down(that we didn't get until the next FMC). I was drooling soo much I had to leave.

Very jealous of the JDM accessory "catalog" versus our brouchures.

I had to watch it on mute with captions.. I saw 182hp... the event description specifically said "powerful engine" ... that color they used for the livestream is awful.. they should have used the blue-steel color. Ill have to rewatch, but I also didnt see mention of the crosstrek sport getting something like the WRXs new CVT that seems to be highly praised. So far really sad to see how boring it came out. Does Subaru care anymore or are they just on autopilot?

Justy, what did we miss of this reveal? Because it seems like nothing new here, other than same base price as the outgoing model. I suppose that is something, but Subaru is failing hard here.

Yeah and in the inclusion of the tablet center display, which to me is a net negative vs the 2023 model

I'm just as underwhelmed as y'all, but even I can't bring myself to say that Subaru "failed" or that they disappointed me. The Crosstrek reached 1 million sold faster than any other Subaru in history, in just 10 years. We obviously aren't the demographic for it. I've known that for a long time.

I got a used 2014 Crosstrek when my Impreza was in the shop for a while and I wasn't willing to cancel a cross-country road trip I'd been planning for a chunk of the year. It did fine driving from Alaska to the east to the west coast and back up. I left it with my mom when I moved to Massachusetts and she loves that little car.

It's cool that Subaru can dedicate some Crosstrek production to SIA since there's no Impreza sedan. And it's the Sport and Limited trims too. Should make it easier to stay up with production and varied customer demands.

My information may be of things still not revealed yet. But, it was specific the the towing statement. I'll hold off for now saying anything(that was probably too much). Apologies. Was really expecting it today or I wouldn't have done that.

My complaint is their tease of "more power". Ummmmmm

But, I ask how they are failing? It's their number one selling car and it just got better. ????

They failed me, I am ready to upgrade, the 2023 checked most boxes but needed a better transmission and more power and more towing capacity.. they could have popped the new WRX CVT transmission into the sport that is highly praised... they could have bumped the power too. At this point I think I have to look at other brands because I keep waiting and waiting and this was the last glimmer of hope that Subaru would start caring again.

For the record.. the Outback wilderness almost checked all the boxes too, but that stereo is a total joke in a $42,000 car with no upgrade available and to DIY it would require new speakers, new amplifier AND a digital signal processor because the stock headunit is tuned to try and make the cheap paper speakers sound passable. There were other issues too, from the crossbars not being included and costing $600 more to the seat material being sweaty AF in the wilderness trims. Volvo makes an XC40 that seems to check more boxes.

Count me as a +1 sale loss.

Is the new Crosstrek going to be made at SIA? Previous versions were all made in Japan.

depends on the trim - looked like sport and limited will be in USA.

The Crosstrek is competitive for its segment, so it sounds like your expectations weren't reasonable. Whether the 2.0 or 2.5, for their price and features they actually hold very well. Subaru took swings at Toyota, Mazda and Hyundai in their presentation video.

I hate the new Outback. How it drives and the technology, both are awful.

Everyone complains about the crosstrek's lack of power and CVT transmission, even with the 182hp engine, many say it is still weak sauce. My unreasonable expectation is just enhancing what nearly everyone picks at. The better CVT exists in other Subarus, the better engine exists in other Subarus.. is it really that unreasonable? I'd pay more for this trim...
