Funny you mention that because I could only watch a couple of minutes myself. It was the only Forester review in my feed and I figured people would be interested in seeing B Roll of it.

As for the Forester itself, I'm neutral on the design. It doesn't really look all that quirky anymore. It'll probably continue to sell like crazy.

Odd, his was the only review in my subscribed feed today. Guess other reviews are from small time reviewers?

Ya, not subscribed to any of those. Those are lower-rung channels. I'll watch Alex on Auto reviews on occasion, but only for dry facts about something... He is too tough to listen to on a regular basis.

Driving Sports isn't one of the big channels either, but he is one of us so of course I sub to his channel

What's a big channel that does new car reviews? Apparently I'm not subbed to those.

I don't know how we define "big". SavageGeese, TheStraightPipes, and Doug are the main guys that I watch, but they definitely have more of an enthusiast angle vs. just a generic "regular person" car reviewer.

I'm in the market for a current (outgoing) generation Forester so I am keen to see how the 2025 models affect pricing on those. I am not a fan of the new styling.

Ya, Doug, Geese, SP, SmokingTire and ThrottleHouse are probably the big 5 right now.

Everyday Driver, MotoMan and TFL are like DrivingSports ad they've been around forever but don't have massive numbers but put out better reviews than the low end stuff. I also for ****s and giggles like some Euro channels like Autogefuhl, Auto Trader, and still Top Gear. A lot of the "corporate" channels like Car & Driver, Road & Track, MotorTrend, Edmunds, etc. are not that good anymore.

I don't see anything from any of these channels about the Forester today, but I'm not subbed to all of them either.

So, to pull the Forester topic back in to the Forester thread(I know I'm guilty for being off-topic a bunch.), the talk about Forester production coming to SIA and our first 4 cars will be from Japan. I'm gonna take a guess and say that the hybrid is what will be made at SIA and maybe the Wilderness. The current Wilderness has a lower ground clearance than the Outback for one reason and one reason alone. It is too tall for the assembly line at Gunma. SIA made major mods to accommodate the Ascent. Perhaps the next Forester Wilderness fixes it's "shortness" by being made here?

Do you really want cars to be taller? I get more ground clearance, but overall heigh should be low for better CG. Subaru's ridiculous greenhouse (it was so bad in 2008) is way too tall. They need high belt lines, and low slung roofs. To hell with visibility.

The last time I was considering a Forester I ended up disqualifying it because the lack of height (perhaps due to the center brake light) precluded accommodation of the dog crate size I use. A lower ground clearance with less wobbly driving experience would be very (!) welcome.

Not sure I'm following this. What does the brake light have to do with height.....that you said you disqualified it for......then say you want it lower?!?!

What was the better alternative? Just something overall bigger?

Outback is way more wobbly to drive than the Forester, in my experience.

I feel like if that was true, it would be have to due to suspension, or something.

Outback = 66.4 - 66.9" tall
Forester = 68.1" tall

Their ground clearance is the same 8.7" (non-Wilderness)

The interior dimensions would not accommodate the height of the dog crate. The center brake light protruded into the opening.

That must've been a while ago. The Forester has pretty high clearance. And since the 2019, it's had the widest opening of any of the Subaru models. Sucks though that something so "small" had that kind of affect.

Definitely suspension. I was basically saying that in my experience the Forester's height didn't make it feel especially wobbly. Whereas the Outback has felt the most wobbly since MY2020, even to friends who've owned them (2020+).

I don't know how I missed this post before.

That's all that I was getting at about the Wilderness. It doesn't have the ground clearance of the Outback for that one reason. Which DOES affect it's ability to do this or that. And many people pick the Forester for that visibility. Sooo many complaints over the years of the competitors bad to horrible visibility and how much more they like the Forester because it's better.
