Talking Give me compelling reasons to convince wife to allow me to get a STi

I may be able to sell my WRX for a little more than I paid for and would probably get an 05 WRX. I would love to get an STi but I just got married and we still have not bought a house etc. I have a CRX which I have as my toy but I would get rid of it if I got an STi so that helps. I guess I would save $ from not needing the maintanance on my CRX, nor would I mod the STi if I had it (I would have to mod the new WRX with a few things to be happy $$) so I need to get some numbers down to help my case. Anyone care to help me build a case on getting an STi?

B/C you're a man and can pick your own car?

Money saved by not modding STi.*
Money saved by not modding CRX.
Money saved by not maintaining CRX.
Money saved by not insuring CRX.
Money saved by not licensing CRX.

Um... Why should she even notice that you got a new car, do you let her leave the kitchen? That's risky dude. You just got married, you should be training her right from the start. It starts this way, where you feel you should consult her about financial decisions, next she's picking your outfits, and complaining about you "embarassing her" when you make out with her sister at a family function. I've been though this, man. Just go get the STi, if she's not cool with it, you could always give it to me.

Hmmm.... I'd go for the house.

But, a way to convince the wife is to say you want to combine the WRX and CRX into one STi to save on maintenance, insurance, parking spaces, etc. OK, so the insurance part might be a lie, but it's worth a try!

Tell her you are going to get the STI because you are a man and because you are a man, you can do whatever the hell you want.

Is your wife into cars?

If not, you'll never get it. She'll want the house more than that 'blue car with a wing'

Keep talking investments people... I doubt anybody here bought their car for that reason. For some it is necessity, for others it is deeper. I'd say most of us here have a deeper appreciation for the automobile than the typical Camry owner. Whether we are just enthusiasts or engineering nerds, Subarus appeal to us. If he is drawn to the STi, that can't be rationalized (or reasoned with ). Do what you gotta do man, may the Scoob be with you.

1. When the time comes, the STi will get her to the emergency room quicker when she's in labor. The quicker she gets there the quicker drugs are running through her bloodstream. She'll think it's money well spent after the first kid.

2. "Honey, we just got married...do you want to start killing my hopes and dreams already?"

3. If you applied number 2, you will now be single and free to get the car of your choice.

Tell her that you will take her over some rough roads to break up her kidney stones with the vibration. Also tell her that she can help pick out some new tires after 10K miles. Hope it helps!

Tell her she has to let you get it otherwise she'll have to put up with the whining for three days every time you see one on the road.

Get the STi, do a quick trunk swap with me and, if she is like the average women, wont notice a thing and will think your still in the WRX.

I mentioned the house is a better investment assuming newlyweds are hard on cash. If youre not, get the fast blue car with that thing on the back... what does it do again, honey?

Ultimately it's hard to justify rationally. I guess the way to go is to hit at the emotions. as in "it would make me very very happy" to get an STI. However after haveing owned both a WRX and a STI I do think the WRX is a nice blend of performance and practicality. But we only live once.

Tell her the truth!

The Tranny in the 03' is going to give you problems anyday now, and you want to sell it off while you can still get your money out of it.
Then tell her your going to buy an STi because the 6-speed Tranny in THAT car is great! You won't have to worry about replacing it.

Wives LOVE the truth!

Hey I thought I would be flamed out of here! Thanks for all the ideas! How much are the STi's currently? (I live in MD BTW). I would get an 04 STi if I can find a good deal. If I got a WRX I would want the sunroof deale which would put it's price close to the price of an 04 STi which makes the STi easir to justify...
