well, I know dom(kitoautosport) tuned byron's FP green'ed sti (with many other mods) to 477hp and 534 lb-ft.
I'd link it but they've block dom's site... "Here's a quick list: DomTuned Built Bottom end: Wiseco Pistons 100mm -ceramic and moly coated Crower Rods COBB bearings Custom clearances, balancing and sizing (10W-30 to 15-50 synthetic req'd). Yeah Al is a mad man at tuning. What he does with an AccessPort more than likely cannot be duplicated with opensource, but I am curious to see what is out there.

not taking anything away from byrons numbers but the dynomite dyno he was on is true garbage. he dyno'd on moon performances mustang dyno and made 368hp... only 2 more hp than me.. and he was on 25psi vs my 22psi and i was on the stock topmount, while he was on an fmic with water injection.... numbers mean dick... take it to the track. |

That was his road tuned Water Injection map that you are refering too. Byron did not dyno the Meth injected tune at Moon Performance. I know he would not have made 477whp on Moon's dyno. However, I would not be surprised to have seen over 400. That car just runs right. I'll be open source tuning my 07 STi again here in a few weeks. FP RED Built Block 272 Cams Meth Injection FMIC etc etc etc I'll let you know how it turns out. Joey's 05 STi open sourced in at 517whp on Torquefreeks dyno and 435whp on my mustang MD500SE. That was a fun car to tune. -Dominic |

this thread is pretty pointless anyhow as numbers don't mean jack unless you are comparing with each car back to back on the same dyno... |

I know it's not opensource but on the factory ecu with an AP I've made 500whp on my Dyno Dynamics and the car went 10.9 at 129 at 4800ft above sea level. On a local dynojet it made 630. As far as we know it was the fastest stock ecu subaru in the world until recently when one of the PR guys went 10.8 on the factory ecu with an AP.
We're in the middle of a new build on the car that made 500. We're hoping for 600 and a 10.5 at 135. |

Screw the dyno numbers.. It wouldn't be fair to compare a car that makes mid 500whp and traps less to a car that makes 500 and traps 129.. 10.9@129 PR car ran 10.8@??? Junior |

Also, this thread is meant for open source, as stated in my first post. AccessPort flashed is not open source. |

it is you who are giving forums a bad name throwing stupid claims around and then getting butthurt when someone calls you on it.....you are pro-opensource? good for you i could give a ****, you wanna cookie? any tune can be replicated, and and there are many people out there that can write even better tunes than Al, no offense to him. He uses accessports for a reason? o rly? what reason would that be? that its better than opensouce? hell no...... ill bet you have not a single clue as to why either...you just take it that if he uses it, then it MUST be the best platform to tune with.....maybe it is because he has an agreement with cobb much like many other tuners that he wouldnt tune with opensource....not saying thats the case, but most cobb tuners ive ever heard of wont touch opensource saying they are forbidden by cobb to do so. get off your high horse, you made a ignorant remark and got called on it, no need to lash out about it....man up and have a nince day |

Please calm down. A few points, in theory a "open source" reflash can make the same exact power as a ecutek reflash or a Cobb AP2. However, the Cobb Ap2 is the much easier tuning tool due to superior map tracing, live tuning, better data logging and more parameters for tuning such as individual cylinder timing and fuel trims, etc. The Cobb AP is just a tuning tool. It is just a more advanced tool with more functions and features which makes it better. Afterall the stock ecu itself is the device which controls the way the engine operates. A tuner just changes the maps. Al |
