Well, I'm wondering what offset I would need to run as well as any other advice. All ideas welcome. I'm not going for hellaflush or anything of the sort, I want properly fitting wheels and tires that may be a bit on the meaty side. Really, I just want to fit about the widest tires I can on my car without having many issues.
Sc00by4Life will have a more concrete answer, but from what I've gathered from reading through this thread you should be fine at +40 to + 48 on a 17x9 with 255/40/17's at stock ride height without needing any kind of roll or pull. You might be OK at a +38. I'd wait for him to chime in though as I could be wrong. Wheel fitment is something I'm still trying to grasp.

Remember the 2010 is still the narrow body. Fit would be fine on the 2011 probably but may need a roll or pull on the 2010. If I recall the stock wheel on the 2010 was a 17x7.

Good point, I have a '12 so I was thinking about my car's body style.

My suggestion. Don't run that size unless your fine with some good roll, a mild pull and non stretched tires! Plus you need coilovers
Thanks man. No it won't be at stock height. I was worried about the struts rubbing so I guess I'll probably have to get coilovers. I'm already rolled so I should just need a pull and camber.

The rear with an ET48 and 8.5's was a little to close for me (close to the strut). But with the 3mm spacers no probs at all. Next is coilovers to drop front 1.5 and rear approx .5 inch.

I ran the same size wheel with a 235/35 tire on my wagon dropped pretty low on coilovers. I had the rear fenders rolled and was running -1.75* of camber up front and natural (~-2*) in the rear. The 235/35 is a little shorter than the 225/40, but you shouldn't have to do a whole lot of work.

I'm running 225/40R18's on Rota G-force 18X8.5 ET48 had no issues at all up front but the rear wheel was very close to the strut so I used a 3mm spacer. My tires are stretched just a bit and have no clearance issues. So with you running 235 you would be pretty much flush with the wheel and tire tread. If you have a wagon like I do just keep an eye on the rear. I am stock with alignment/suspension with no fender work at all. But once I get my coilovers and lower it I am sure I may have to roll the rear. we will see... I really wanted to go with the 235's but after reading wasn't sure if it would work on a wagon. After getting 225's I wished I would have got the 235's. I just went with the safe side. If you do the math with the 225/40 (225 is 8.8in wide and 25in tall) and 235 (9.25in wide and 25.4 tall). Now the actual will vary with brand of tire but these numbers will be very close. you can check out www.willtheyfit.com for a good idea of what you have vs what you want to go to size wise.

No rubbing with that set up after rolling the rear fenders. I've gone lower and a lot more aggressive now and with a nice pull I don't rub on 18x9.5 +38 with just under -3* of camber all around.

tire size: 255/40 if possible
suspension: feals 441 (hopefully soon)
alignment: camber -1.6 front -1.8 rear ( camber bolts)
fender mods: none currently
spacers: no

Wanting to run these without fender modifications if possibly... Unsure on the 255 tire size being feasible? Saw this thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2201790 post #23 shows 245s didn't know if anyone has tried 255.

Wanting to run the feals at most optimum handling height which I believe is 13.9 inches from the hub center. Please advise and/or correct if i am wrong.Thanks.

I have read the first 78 pages of this thread and a few others. Hoping someone can just chime in if its been done.

The problem will likely not be fender rubbing as much as inner wheel well rubbing. That's a pretty high offset. But with the right height, which the 13.9 is a good height, you shouldn't need any fender mods depending on how tight your suspension is and how hard you drive.

But a good flattening of the inner lip (roll) will guarantee you will not rub the fender

Thanks for the reply. That was kinda my thoughts too. I enjoy turning fast and hope to do some autox stuff in the near future after I get everything sorted. Trying to stick with a close to a stock offset but a wider tire for more grip.

Wondering how much tire I can fit on these on a wagon

year: 2002
model: WRX Wagon
wheel model: Drag DR-31
wheel size/offset: 17x9 +38
tire brand/model: ???
tire size: I'd like to fit as much meat as possible, I've seen 245s on a 17x9 +42, but the car seemed a little high
suspension: Bilstein PSS9 with Cusco Pillowball Mounts all around
alignment: Whatever I need, but within reason
fender mods: " "
spacers: yes/no? no

I don't think it will clear the brembos. But other than that, it's basically the same specs as the stock bbs wheels just a wider tire

You think spacers will fix that then? If yes, any idea what size?

If anything, a 5mm max. Don't quote me though, as I'm just going off what I have read. I don't have brembos to go off of.

I can confirm they will clear brembos with no spacer

Pulled from the enkei wheel thread

"Wheels are RPF1 Black 17x8 45mm offset - fit perfect no issues clearing Brembos, however the wheels were roadforce balanced and the new thick weights they use were too tall and 1 got knocked right off immediately by the caliper up front. That wheel only had 1 weight on it, so I'm not real concerned."

With a little research you can find anything

EDIT: he is also running a 245/45

tire brand/model: None purchased yet (open to any options)

alignment: Stock (would prefer no camber)
fender mods: None (would prefer not to roll/pull)

Will these wheels fit my car with thiis tire size, without rolling/pulling fenders or adjusting camber? I read through nearly the entire thread and have gotten mixed messages. If this size tire wouldn't work without additional fender/camber mods, what size would I have to go with without worrying about rubbing?

Thank you.
