New to 'new cars' and warranties. Noticed some body dings 3 wks after delivery.
Hey all,
This is my first actually new car, and after a semi-eventful delivery, I give it its first claybarring and wax, only to find some small dimples/dings. I wonder if they can be brought to the dealer's attention. Am I SOL since I didn't catch it on delivery/purchase? If pics would help, I can take some when the light gets less intense in an hour or two. Factors: 1) This was the last 06 wagon they had on the lot, got a good deal on it, but its been on the lot a while, between two dealers. 2) Didn't notice these dimples until last week while starting its panel-by-panel initial claybar/wax treatment. Lighting/time of day didn't bring them to light on the lot. 3) Car is CGM 4) Car was delivered from Sac to Reno via a dirty I-80 over the summit. Another thing that made the surface a bit obscured. Also, a few things went 'wrong' and demanded my immediate attention and phone calls, I got distracted from a thorough inspection, plus the dirt. 5) 'damage' is on the aluminum hood in the center portion over, dime-sized. The other site is at the passenger rear door just below the window nearest the seam between it and the front door. Twin dimples, very small, but putting a shine on the car brought them out. 6) They seem like 'dent doctor' material, but I've never had an aluminum hood before. ***Do people bring things like this up to their dealer? As I asked before, am I SOL since I didn't notice it @ delivery/purchase?***

I hope to not have to raise a stink, I doubt they would oppose me so much, I just don't know if this is a realistic request or what.... |

Maita, actually. Purchased 3/1, delivered 3/2. I need to contact them tomorrow, sounds like its a pretty common occurence. It was at Livermore Subaru first, then Maita. Maita was great to deal with. Never made it to Senator. Came down the hill from Reno after a useless visit to Lithia, checked all the new and used lots including the Automall (joke) and then Maita. They know how to do business. Trouble is, I live ~2 hrs away, I won't be able to bring it in for a while.

oo, sounds good. Maita should definitely take care of you. Granted my parents bought there car at Maita Toyota, they are one of the best dealerships i have been to. The times ive been to senator, the sales people dont seem to know jack about anything. Ive also heard bad things about the automall.

Three weeks since you took delivery? You are looking at a 50/50 shot. Depends on how nice your dealer is and how your whole transaction went, and especially how nice you were as a customer. If you were pleasant to deal with I don't see a reason why they wouldn't try to help. There is also a chance that you received the dings after delivery. I would certainly make mention of it to the dealer and ask for their input, but if you stamp in there and demand they fix it you will surely be SOL! Good luck!

did you fill out an inspection sheet before you got the car? If not then the dealer may do a one time fix for you. This happened with my parents explorer and they fixed it because they did not do a visual inspection with my parents.

Here is the kicker, you will receive a customer satisfaction survey soon. It is very important to the dealer that they get "good grades" on it. If I were you, only if you have to of course, I would hold it over them. We have done many things at my dealership to make sure we get 100***37; on the survery. Trust me it makes everyone jump! GL

Yeah I would think you would be OK. All dealerships differ so, it is always good to have a plan B
