Exclamation 02 wrx throw out bearing problem please help

ok i just put my motor back in my 02 wrx wagon and i followed the alldata procedure of putting the bearing on the fork instead on of the plate. now i can not get it to pop into the pressure plate what am i missing or what did i do wrong i am really hoping to not have to take the tranny or motor out again to fix this. i have no tension on the fork and when i push the pedal it only pops back up about half way. Please help this is all i am trying to figure out and the car is done

there is a snap ring that should be placed on the inside of the pressure plate. This locks the release bearing to the pressure plate.

slave is unbolted.. i am thinking of taking the fork out of the bearing and trying to push it in with a prybar and then reinsert the fork to the bearing but not sure how it will work any thoughts?

Sounds like a little too much force will be applied by using a pry bar.

Try removing the release for pin and see if it snaps in then. It should give you a decent amount of extra room.

If it doesn't lock in then, I would pull the clutch and investigate further.

just push the fork towards the firewall and it will snap in with minimal effort

the snap ring does not go on the bearing it goes on the pressure plate. the bearing locks into it the first time its pushed into the plate.

If you try to force the throwout bearing you will break the tabs that hold it onto fork

yea i messed with it for about 2 hrs and decided to cut my losses and just slide the trans back so i could see what was going on and the little tabs on the snap ring bent the first time i tried to push it in so i had to order another bearing. but this time i am going to put it in the plate first than put the fork in just seems easier
