Timing belt jumped 3 teeth? :'[ help
I had my timing belt tensioner bearing fail in my 02 wrx and it began to misfire in cylinder #1 and #3. The car made no funny noises besides a crappy idle. The timing marks on the passenger side of the motor are off 3 teeth, the drivers side is off by around one. Considering this is an intereference motor, what are the chances I bent a valve? I didn't rev or drive after it happened.

Pretty high chances if it's 3 teeth or more unfortunately. Retiming and doing a compression/leakdown test will be the tell all.

Do the test as stated above. I'm 90% sure the service manual lists 3 teeth as the max tolerance, so you may have got lucky.
Fingers crossed! :-) |
