Default Why have Enkei RPF1s gotten AMAZINGLY inexpensive in the last 6 months?

I keep seeing really low prices lately. Is there a massive grey market thing going on with knock-offs or what?

Here, for one:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1186969

Quote:
Falken RT-615 (235/40/17) + Enkei 17x8 (+45, 5x100)
=$1365 + shipping
That's ~$550 for tires mounted and balanced, so $815 for a set of 4 15.6lb rims in 17x8 5x100.

$203 a piece.

Default They're good but no indestructible

They're light, look awesome, and sturdy enough to track. I did bend one of them on the track - dropped a wheel off the track. Hit a rock or chunk of track hard. Found a shop that fixed it. I track with Rota Slipstreams now. Heavier but beefier. Lots uglier.

Love mine

Order em through Evasive from Japan.

5x114 / +45 / 17x8

245/40/17 Proxes4's dropped on Prodrives and they fit w/ no issues. As a matter of fact I have 255/40/17 Azenis that fit no problem either.

...and this brings up another point.....

...it bent....didn't disintergate......THAT is what a good forged wheel does.....and was repairable.

The only thing I dont like about them is the way the spokes dont go all the way to the edge, it gives an illusion that they are smaller than they really are.

But yeah, those prices are awesome.

+1 on the rim looking smaller than it actually is... design is alright but the weight is pretty impressive

The fact they look smaller is why I want them. My 17's right now look far too large...

Default Clearance for Stoptechs on 17 inch is minimal

The inner diameter is smaller than most 17 inch wheels as part of the design to bolster the strength of the rim. Clearance on Stoptech upfront is so close that the wheel weights can't be put between the rim and calipers.
