I have a 18g xt on my car and i like it as a DD because it is has a little bit of lag so i can stay out of boost easy when driving around but also has the power i want when i roll into it.Im pretty sure i get a little better mpgs to just because im stay alot more out of boost then before where just accelerating to 55 with the flow of traffic required 4-5 psi

I get 28 mpg on the highway and around 18 around town. I don't mind burning fuel when I want to step on it, but a tune like the prodrive one would eat gas for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a few snacks in between.
It would be awesome for auto-x though |

well I didn't drive that new turbo more than 5 miles to the shop that I was getting it tuned at. put the 3port in and began the tune. 2nd pull gave head lift and HG failure, 3rd pull well lets say I found a new in crate EJ257 short block. rod and main bearings failed. didn't get a full 3 pulls when tuning and the 205 started showing the internal engine problems of the OEM 205 parts. doing a hybrid build now and going to keep in mild as my DD Legacy gt is going to be used by a family member in need. but I will take this failure as my excuse to do my Hybrid build with a 4EAT. yes I will be having that rebuilt to if I need.

Driving it like it do, which means heavy on off throttle banging on it almost non stop, driving it like I stole it, pretty much everywhere lol. I average 24mpg city+highway.... worst I have ever seen was 22... Still trying to video the spool up.. but I gotta find a place where its safe to hit those kinda speeds one handed while filming. I might try and drink a Coffee at the same time. And listen to our good uncle... TUNE TUNE TUNE... |

For the 2.0L's where were the 'Prodrive kits" from and what did they consist of? nvm..... it was a up pipe/dp and ic hoses and a reflash I guess like a Cobb.....but I wonder how they compared to the cobb flashes. Damn u Prodrive for leaving the US. Last edited by shamrock 05; 04-29-2013 at 01:05 PM. |

This was my first trip of any distance since my recent upgrade, so I was interested to see what my mileage would be. Kinugawa T518Z-16G (Big16G) PTP Lava Blanket w/GS Ceramic coated heatshield DW750cc GS EBCS STI TMIC K&N Typhoon GMS Inlet GS Crank Pulley etc, etc Now around town if i'm heavy footed my gas mileage can be awful... but a lot of fun! Completely depends on the driving. Last edited by ogboot; 04-29-2013 at 03:56 PM. |

Uncle scotty reiterates that he needs a tune. He has also coincidentally quoted op for posterity. Days pass. We can all speculate. 4/28 Irish comes back to report that car blew up after 5min of tuning. Points to ej205 internals as culprit. @Irish- my turbo sat in my living room for almost a month waiting on parts, time, etc. I wanted to install it BAD.... like little-kid-peeking-in-the-box-every-night kinda bad. I also worked out my base tune beforehand. Now here we are a month later and it sees 21psi and redline almost daily, and I'm posting from a hotel room because I drove it 450 miles last night, my mpg avg is a couple posts up. It may blow up on the way home, who knows, but I doubt it. Stock internals, 100k+ on the block but it's maintained. As for stock internals, search for general ti's stock ej205 on here. Hint... holset turbo. He pretty much intended for it to let go, was gonna rebuild anyway but got a lot more miles out if it than he expected. Please try to take care of your new setup, and rip on it too |

Mine also received... Prodrive (AEM) Cai, Samco Inlet, Act Streetlight Flywheel, JDM Sti intercooler, splitter, sprayer, better recirc valve, Per recommendations from the PD engineer who was assisting me, as they built the Tune for those, but didn't require them. Much better than the COBB. its tuned for those specific parts, not some off the shelf re-map, so they can set up the tune tighter. Part quality was amazing, and they hold warranty overseaas. 252,105 miles as of this morning... 220k of that on the mods. I think I am the last Prodrive tuned wrx left in the US.. lol... |

16g XTR is my vote. The bb center will give you a quick spool and throttle response like Scotty said. Also the 2.0l will always get great gas millage on the highway if you can stay out of boost. |

What sucks for us 2.0 guys is that "our" 02-05 td04's are getting old and harder to find with "low" actual miles and some donw want to go with a new "big" turbo.....So I called the dealer and checked SGP and at the price of a brand new td04 for a 02-05 wrx https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/oe_parts_cat.html That turbo should be $500-600 tops. Quote:
Its a shame that Prodrive left and quit selling that kit. Cause I would say that ALOT of people not wanting to go with an aftermarket turbo/set up for their DD would be all over these "kits". Damn you Prodrive Last edited by shamrock 05; 05-02-2013 at 12:46 PM. |

Why not rebuild the td04? Just a mitsubishi chra, SUPER easy to rebuild and rebalance. Practically new after.

I'm wondering if anyone here as given the tomei ARMS m7760 a spin? (pun intended)
looks to be very similar to the big 16g turbos being put out by various companies, potentially more power available as well, one could also step up to the 7960 which seems like a 18g but more for a 2.0l anyone have any input on those?? |
