If you switched the flex pipe and that circled piece of tubing, you would be able to make the bend to the turbo flange easier and with less bending. It seems like it would be very difficult and restrictive to bend it the way it is now.

Understand what I'm saying or is it just babble to you? Or am I just a moron?
I see what you mean, having bends at the weld for the flex section. I truthfully have no idea how much, if any, difference that would make.

If you move the flex sections far from eachother I suspect it would limit the total flexibility provided though, maybe that is the tradeoff made - give it more flexibility since it is going to be bolted to the frame but trade off a little bit of not quite completely ideal bending at the flex section.

you only have so much room with these set ups. if i read what your saying right you think that i bend the flex to fit it how i want before i weld it? a bend comes off that flex to fit around the u brace. i have 6-7 of these kits running with flexes in the same spot and have yet to have a failure. another case of internet engineering at its best.

If there are space restrictions, that's completely different. Personally I would've switched both of the straigh pieces and flex portions.

I just know that keeping a flex pipe in a flexed position will potentially increase wear and make it fail prematurely. It's kinda like wheel bearings with spacers, it can cause failures, but there are no guarantees.

Thanks MPS, especially for putting up me being such a nuisance! I'm getting all twitchy and excited!

I doubt he wants anyone calling him all the time, even if they try to be extremely patient and pleasant. It takes time away from their ability to actually get things done. With all the headache and re-dos (failed crank balancing, revisits to the machine shop), it really wouldn't surprise me if they ended up eating a thousand or two on my build in time and other costs and never once have I gotten any negative response from them.

It was very unfortunate in the circumstances MPS and I had to go through on this build, but they have done everything they could. I can't ask for much more.

He has a couple options, but it was like 1400 or so if I remember right with shipping and paypal fees for my setup. It isn't a bad deal at all for a quality, large runner, twinscroll manifold with dump tubes and 4" dump exhaust.

Going to have to get the scavenge pump stuff and intercooler sorted out next.

I know what you mean, I've been in constant contact with Dom for the past month or so trying to figure out what was up with my pistons. JE went full retard. You never go full retard. Anyways, Dom and I had discussed other piston options and suddenly he says my pistons will be at the shop last friday. He didn't tell me he was upgrading my pistons and rods for free (or little cost, haven't found out full cost yet). I'm anxious to hear when it will ship. Craig finished building it yesterday, they're just packaging up a few parts I ordered. I'm wearing out the carpet pacing right now...And it was just replaced

At work everytime I hear a truck outside the office I look to see if it's a delivery person headed for my door. I've been waiting two weeks for some valves, springs, and retainers. I'm not even close to being done with my build but any wait sucks!

Having said that, I've very interested to see the progress with this build. Good luck!

I know the feeling. I won't be running this big boy at first but I am very antsy to hear it at full song.

Yeah, I just checked and it was $1361 or so Paypal'd (so they could get their 3%). It was a very good deal. He would also do a normal rotated for around $2,000 but the more he talked about it and the more I read it seems like the fog light location just ends up making more sense even with having to deal with the scavenge pump.

Edit: On a completely unrelated note, the journal bearing on this thing is insanely smooth. I know you aren't supposed to spin them dry, but I couldn't help myself and it moves easier than many ball bearings I have felt.

Got some more pictures. Heads apart to make holes of appropriate size for the center studs then hopefully done in a few days!

Not to be forgotten, fobia just shipped the headers to me too! Christmas time indeed!

why only run bigger studs in the middle?I am pretty sure even tho they are all trq'd the same the clamping force on the gskt will probably not be uniform.Just an observation. Also what size are the middle studs and what material?MY bad saw info on studs on 1st post.

I do not remember the conversation all that well as it was months ago when this was the suggested path to take. I would have to ask Dom to chime in on the why.

Here are the specs from P&Ls website:

Made from ARP2000 material
Capable of achieving clamp loads in the 215,000-220,000 psi range
13 mm body diameter (3.6 mm more than current ARP stud)
110 ft/lb torque spec
Larger 24.5 mm/o.d. washer for increased clamping area
Broached hex on top of stud for easy install
2 taps provided for ease of installation. (starter and bottoming)

On the note about the studs, did you expand the holes on the block yourself? I was thinking about doing it but was curious how much of a PITA it could be. Sucks because my block is together, wish it had already been done.

Dom had Benson do it if I am not mistaken.

our local machine shop does the re thread of the larger studs. Benson just does the sleeves and o ringing and the rest of the case work like, bore, hone, deck, mainline hone.
