Post OT: Finally got a speeding ticket!

Sucks. I got a ticket for going 74 at 55 zone. NYS Police caught me. My radar detector went nuts, but it was just too late because I was definitely going around that speed. I haven't gotten a single ticket since '97. The cop makes a big U-turn right in front of me, lets me pass, and he puts his lights on 1/5 of mile later. Grrrwwwwrrwww. I can't even make it to the court because I have to be in Teaneck, NJ on the court date when the court takes place upstate NY.

My g/f seems to think he caught me because our cars look like fast cars. Especially when he can see all the gauges and hear the exhaust.

peace out

Sometimes by rescheduling/delaying your court date you can get out of it, if the cop doesnt show up to the trial. Also by having a later court date the cop may forget the details of the situation and sometimes the case is thrown out because of that. See if you can get your court date delayed. They will do it if you have a valid excuse.

I got a ticket on the NYS Thruway for doing 89 in a 65. Paid the 160+ and never saw the points. I was told that if you don't fight it and pay it quickly they'll let you slide on the points. It may have also had something to do with th fact that I had an NJ driver's license.

Yeah, I'm just going to plead guilty and get this over with. I know I was speeding, and the town that the court takes place is notorious for being strict. I hope my insurance won't go up too high.

what they use a rader gun?
did he show you your 3 radar times?
If he didn't GO FIGHT IT!
Read the fine print on the ticket, if a cop uses a radar gun, he must provide your three times if asked ...THEY NEVER have it ...got out of 2 tickets while pulled over that way, and another one in court.

Don't bother fighting it. Especially if your lisc. isn't in that state, since there is no reciprocity between states, unless the officer specifically sends it back to your state. Also I read a statistic that there is a 90% greater chance of getting out of a ticket on the spot rather than after the fact once the ticket it written. I guess I shouldn't talk, 30x pulled over, 25 scott free non-tickets, 3x tickets for non-moving violations, 2x tickets for much less speed than I was doing + out of state!
