Default EGR hardline issue (EJ25 DOHC)

Swapping a JDM EJ25 DOHC into my 98 Fozzy, and I see that the JDM engine doesn't have the tap for the hard EGR line. So ...

Do I -NEED- that, or is there something I can do without pulling the head, and tapping the hole?

Do you have emissions testing?
If no, then cut the tube in the middle, pinch shut, live with the CEL.
If yes, then I would drill and tap. Good news is any chips or crud will drop down. You already have the boss in the head for the port.

I am not aware of a way to trick the ECU to not throw a CEL without the EGR working.

Yes, I will have to pass emissions testing, but not for another 10 months. I'd rather not do anything that I'd have to pull the engine again. I'm throwing PB Blaster at it now to get it loose.

I'm -HEAVILY- considering taking the new head to a machine shop for the drill and tap.

No "drill and tap" for me.

SOLUTION: https://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum...ulation-valve/

TL;DR - EGR intakes gasses from PCV.
