Default stripped banjo thread

recently bought a second hand engine and brought it home to find that the threads where the banjo bolt goes has been stripped. my initial thought was helicoil but I fear that this won't work since the diameter of the whole will be bigger than the banjo and crush washer. has anyone encountered this problem and has success? I've been trying to find info a few people had this problem with no real solutions.

I have used helicoils before and the diameter is only slightly larger than original hole. The crush washers should still seal. Timeserts may be a better option if the helicoils dont work.

Use a locking Heli-coil rather than a standard one. You will likely need to order it.
